correct mount the piston with the arrow pointing at the exhaust...
I can see how it would run, but i'm sure it wouldn't rev out like it should, the exhaust port is huge and you dont want the open part of the piston ring skipping over that giant port...
one hole or two holes whatever, just make the hole that is already there bigger, again this is just to help a little more oil hit that wrist pin, run 30:1 or 35:1 with a blata needle bearing and it will be fine...

I think the piston has been but in backwards?? I think this because from what I have read and can see is that the proper way to orientate the piston is for the arrow on the top to point towards the exhaust, this allows the tiny oil hole in the piston to go up and down the exhaust port division as well as allowing the "cut out" in the piston skirt to be an opening to accept the incoming fuel/air mix?
Am I right?
If I am right, how could this engine have been running for him?
The reason I am working on his engine is to replace the wrist bearing before it lets go and to drill a hole or drill 2 holes in the piston for him.I`m still confused on the one hole versus the 2 hole mod.I understand the one hole mod but how do I do the 2 hole mod.Are the other 2 holes put at the same level down from the piston crown as the existing one?
Looking down ontop of the piston,if the stock hole is as 12 o'clock are the other ones at 3 and 9?? |
