Cool dellorto 19mm vs dell rep 19mm comparison

k just checked out all parts between the genuine dellorto 19mm and the dell rep 19mm and all parts are interchangeable!!!

the dell reps thread taps arent the greatest which requires a little force when screwing in jets but no big deal they fit and have the same thread pitch just be careful. the reps choke needs replaced with a genuine choke to keep it sealed. the bowl screw on one side is too long and hits the air/fuel mixture screw use a shorter screw on that side. the needle clip is the wrong c clip you'll need a genuine c clip or find the proper size to allow the needle to drop all the way into the atomiser. the seal inside the air/fuel screw passage (little o ring) is the wrong size. the slide has 2 slots on each side which can be dropped in backwards keeping it from running mine came that way

the dellorto has slightly tapered holes inside the inlet/outlet bore. the springs throughout the carb are of better quality and the bowl is also made of a higher grade plastic along with the top piece. it doesnt use lock washers on the bowl screws which is why the rep might leak from overtightening the bowl using these lock washers.

so theres the difference and important info on getting these dell reps running. if i think of anything else i've forgotten i'll add it along the way or if anyone else finds any issues post them up! reason for this thread is these carbs have been out for quite some time and most have had bad luck with them and no one has the for sure answer to all these questions. buying a genuine dellorto would be the way to go but if you already bought the dell rep heres your answers and some pics. i'll get a couple more pics up once i can fit them and the genuine parts are on the right side rep on the left.

Re: dellorto 19mm vs dell rep 19mm comparison

The big difference is the needel, the original carb has a much more tapered needel then the rep this will give more fuel and at high rpm will kepp the engine revving

Re: dellorto 19mm vs dell rep 19mm comparison

every engines different what works for one might not work for the other even though they may be identical. i couldnt get my bike running with the real tapered needle i had to use the sharp pointy reps.

i do believe this also has to do with the entire set up the real tapered needle may work with my bike but i'll need to change atomisers etc..

Re: dellorto 19mm vs dell rep 19mm comparison

Well done bro.

My 19 Rep's atomizer had smaller holes in the tube so I just got a genuine replacement. Luckily messed up the order and got a package deal with the o-ring, needle...the whole kit in one.

(What bike are you using this Rep on?)

torque ,
you might try taking your rep atomizer and solder the holes shut and try it to see how it works or if it works any differently . there are 13 different atomizers for the phbg and some work a little bettter than others depending on your setup

Thanks Standard, much appreciative of the extra techno!!!!

Well, odd thing as it was, I used an atomizer (genuine) with larger holes on the rep as well as a other adjustments and parts were changed. I also mix my own "odd exotic fuel", so I had to use some nylon components. My final combo corrected a lean issue altogether. I was sent an "interesting" setup, as it seemed as if it were intended to be very detuned...dont know...

So an atomizer with small or no holes work good with station fuel? ....geez, I just need to read up on it again before I put the C2 back together this season...

Or, as suggested by NosMan a time back, I may use my Race Edition PHBG (Seen here: (Genuine) Dellorto PHBG 19mm Black Race Edition) that Ive only tried once. I dont want this fuel I use to mess it up though.

needle c clip

metal float bowl with drain screw (stock screws with lock washers will work fine with this, since it cant warp the metal bowl)

gaskets

note:for a stock blata replica engine, i found the stock setup to work quite well with the exception of running an 84 main and c clip second from top

Well I cant speak for the blata rep motor with this setup . but I could not get it to run past 6000 rpms with a 262 AN atomizer on a 40 3T polini , a 50 5T polini , BZM 50 6T or the 40 blata . I think the holes are so big it atomizes the fuel too much for a 2 stroke . The smaller sizes 258 260 &262 need bigger jetting where as the taller sizes 264 266 requires a little smaller jet . The AU 262 is pretty much identical to the AN262 except it doesnt have the extra atomization holes in the atomizer . I think a AN 262 would work fine as the holes are alot smaller and dont add so much air to the fuel mixture coming in . Now I have the same black race carbPHBG19 R and a reg PHBG19DS one came with the AN and the other came with a AU in it the AN was the one that wouldnt rev over 6 G until I soldered the holes shut then it ran perfect what i should have done was solder a few shut and then tried it but I was just too frustrated with it so I said screw it and closed them all . Dellorto gives you way too many tuning options with these carbs as they are used on alot of different stuff 2T and 4T however you can fine tune this carb to anything you put it on .

Re: dellorto 19mm vs dell rep 19mm comparison

I run the TS setup in 2 of my polini 911's a 40cc 5-port and a 50cc open and they both rev to the moon. Running the AN266 atomiser with the 4T nozzle allows the motor to get more fuel cause the 4T nozzle is bigger than the 2stroke nozzle. So that carb you tried with the AN atomiser must of had the 2stroke nozzle in it. Which when using the AN atomiser with the 2stroke nozzle it puts the main jet pretty much against the fuel bowl cause it makes the main jet sit about a 1/4" deeper into the fuel bowl thus not allowing enough fuel to get into the motor. So it sucks in more air from above the fuel level. By plugging the little holes and using a bigger main it helps it to suck up more fuel instead of atomising the fuel.

um i meant like a simplified list of the name & part number for newbies so they could order a rebuild package. kinda like this:

CARB GASKET SET - PHVB - 52621
GASKET SET PHBG - 52526
W23 NEEDLE - W23
1486 MAIN-PILOT JET 102: 1486-102
