are the only ones worth the dollars. the G1-GRC rep are terrible and the E13 has a badly tweaked frame as from new. anything with the blata style fairings i personally dont like because the handling is pretty bad.
if your not gunna race it (which makes me wonder why people buy them if they dont ) dont get the blata reps.
the polini 911 replica is better then the blatas but not as good as the afore mentioned 3.
you get what you pay for. it all depends on how much you want to spend in the long run. the cheaper the bike the more youll spend repairing it or getting it working.
the banshee is hands down the best bike out of the reps handling wise and performance. on the blata reps im sure you have to take the motor apart and replace the main bearings and the top end bearing + get a reed spacer on them.
as for 85kmh maybe with a long run up and some low gearing on the stockers. a well done up one definitely could do that. but not out of the box by a long way.
just had a look at the website, $450US for a blata rep, WOW thats highway robbery! dont pay any more then $300 for one.
dont forget you can always get a 2nd hand bike. get it from the right person and itll have all the small problems ironed out and be a fair bit cheaper. theres a classified section here.
yepp hes right man i would go 4 the banshee sho love em and the go hard....i own a c1 rep never had a prob and it fly's ...... umm for you money wise i think i would go 4 the banshee but i think it have some issues with handling..... hope it helps
I guess I will just jump into this threat instead of starting a similar one!
I am about to take the leap into liquid cooled and was wondering the same thing. I have no intention of racing, but, like the idea of 10+ hp in a pocket bike!
Could the 'experienced' owners list these in order for me?
Banshee SHO, Polini 911 Rep, Star-X (c5) and Z1
I really like the Banshee and can get a great deal on one locally, but, have been offered several 911 reps, as well as, great deals on C5s and Z1s.
If was just for parking lot ripping, which one would give the best bang for the buck stock? What about build quality?
yes ok the order if i wanted to buy them would be banshee #1 just cuz its the best rep close to euro quality frame wise and most of its parts only needs a new coil and some adjustment to get going good. second would be the c5 which is the c2 with a "50cc" but really its 46.5cc by measurement and the motor will need tore down from the get go and every bearing replaced along with o rings etc.. but still a nice frame and a nice bike when done.
third the 911 rep cuz you can bolt on a 3 shoe euro clutch and banshee/ polini or bzm 50cc top end and haul a$$! and last would be the z1 cuz its a tad bigger then the rest making it look not so much like a pocketbike and it has a bzm 50cc 5 port rep motor that i guess has a terrible squish and port timing which needs to be milled from the bottom which will require a machine shop to set it right.
but one you didnt list was the d1 which would be my REAL second choice cuz it has the bzm 40cc rep pipe along with the 19mm dell rep stock and tsunamibikes i guess has the banshee engine also billet wheels and tripple clamps. but nothing beats the banshee besides a euro.
I would stay with what sr20 said!! Also good luck finding a new anything water cooled shipped to the states for $300 like someone said earlier not going to happen. banshees are great bikes the C series are also good bike. but the squish has to be set and I would buy a zoochi gasket set and install before alot of riding, but the new bearings looks very good, alot better than last years bikes but I would check it first.
Hey raven, 1)Star-X C5, 2)Banshee SHO, 3) Polini rep then the Z1 in that order. And chech out the top of this page, our fearless leader has some Banshees for $399 and $40 ship. Hey how can you go wrong. There is also the guys here in the PBP for future support and advise from one end to the other.
Oh yeah raven, and if it's just for parking lot blasting, go for a 49cc a/c cag, because if & when you start riding on road, and the law catches you, they'll keep it probably. So you don't want to donate an expensive bike to the police auction, right.
