firefox b1 rep A/C

Finally I got my a/c firefox.
Want to do all the important mods before I start it up

-piston mod
do I drill new holes on either sides of the existing hole or one below the existing?

-change wrist pin bearing to original 10x14x12.5 blata
Do I need new gaskets for the cylinder and top?

-change wheel bearings to original blata
Wil the blata bearings fit the firefox?

-adjust the clutch springs.
anyone got some tips on the setting on these?

-strengthen the rear end plastic
have heard about lots of cases of cracked/broken rear end plastic

-get a ngk spark plug

Any other mods I should know about before I start it up.?

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

The factory took care of some of the piston mods at the factory. That is where the piston mod came from. But when you change your wrist pin bearing check to see if your piston has 2 holes in it. I beleive you will also need some spacers for the blata wrist pin bearing so it fits right cause the bearing is alittle short in lenght. I don't know where everyone gets the spacers so maybe someone will step up and say. Get and new gasket kit from blata also to play on the safe side. Here this will help with adjusting the clutch Minimoto Garage - Bi-Zeta Clutch Setup - Article 2
Get a NGK B9ES sparkplug.

No it doesn't. You need to get the air cooled gasket set for the elite 11 or 13 aircooled motor.

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

ok, thanks.
Anyone know if the blata wheel bearings fit on my bike?

I'm also thinking about getting a bigger dellorto carb

wich size should I go for 19 or 17,5?

Phbg or phva?

And do I need new throttle whire or can I mod the original to fit the new carb?

and the same with the intake manifold..can the original be moded to fit new carb?

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

You can use the stock manifold if you can get out metal sleeve that's in it without tearing it and than opening up the inside of the manifold. Get a 18 or 19 phbg carb with the Trevor Sellars setup in it.

#40 slide Part #9475
W23 needle #9595
AN266 atomiser #9654 (emulsion tube)
#40 idle jet #1488
4T spray nozzle #9562

Your cable will work if you get a 90 degree elbow and also get it with the lever choke not the plunger type choke.

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

and what about main jet size?

keep in mind the climate here in Norway 20-30 celcius in summer and about 0-10 in winter.

on colder days like -10 I like staying inside

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

The plunger is a knob that is hard to get a grip on to pull up and than turn to use the choke on minimotos which is no good. The lever you will just have to push it up to use the choke. For main jets I would start out with #94,96,98,100 than see which way you need to go from there. You may need a few more jets on either side of them but I don't want to have you buy to many jets that won't work for you. The spray nozzle is where the atomiser screws into the carb. If you are going to get your carb from a dellorto dealer than you can order the carb with all those parts inside of the carb

People throw around the term "Blata original" loosely around here. Blata does not make the bearings, a reputable company supplies them. SKF, NTN, ***, NSK are all good bearings that can be readily availbly online or locally. Just find out the size (6000 2 RS I believe) and find it. Don't give Blata extra money for something they have nothing to do with

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

He's right about that. Just go to a bearing suppier that is local to you with the bearings and they will hook you up.

Question Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

Hey Straydawg,

whats a 4t spray nozzle again? I get everything else but I cant see anything of that name or part number on the sheet for a dell PHGB carb?

There is the main jet then the surge washer then the atomizer and thats it.

When I bought my carb I found that everything was right except for the idle jet and main jet (which I changed) but I`m confused on this spray nozzle thing.Hope you or some one else in the know can help out,

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

Ok your main jet screws into the atomiser and the atomiser screws into the spray nozzle. If your look into the throat of the carb you will see a brass insert it's the spray nozzle. The 2-stoke nozzle has a small tooth that sticks up into the carb and the 4-stroke nozzle doesn't. We use the 4-stroke nozzle cause it's bigger than the 2-stroke nozzle so more fuel enters the throat of the carb from the float bowl thus putting more fuel into the motor. The AN266 atomiser is a 4-stroke atomiser so you need the spray nozzle to go with it. If you screw the AN266 atomiser into the 2-stroke nozzle it will hang down about a extra 1/4" in the float bowl which would be real close to touching the bottom of the float bowl which would restrict the flow of fuel. If you ever change the nozzle hit me up and I'll tell you the secret to getting it out and putting the 4T nozzle in. Hope that helps lotus7.

Red face Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

Thanks Straydawg!!

Man you know your stuff! After taking it apart I see the part that you must mean.It must be that brass bushing insert that atomizer goes into.

I have no idea on how you would get it out or get a new one in and I imagine there is no way to see a number on it (if it even has one) without taking it out to see.

But,if the carb came with a AN266 atomizer on it- does that mean that it would have also come with the matching and correct spray nozzle?? If that is the case I am safe.

Really appreciate your help.

The Blata gaskets fit the Firefox engine. The cases are the same as the water-cooled knockoff.

Re: firefox b1 rep A/C

Hey thanks 2bamp I though the base gasket would fit just wasn't sure if the air cooled head used a head gasket or o-rings.

lotus7 you can tell which nozzle you have by looking into the throat of the carb the 2-stroke nozzle will have a tooth sticking up into the throat of the carb. So if that brass insert is flat with no tooth it's the right nozzle
