Cool My new Star-X 50ccw/c C5

Hello fellow racers, just moved up to a w/c, looks and sounds great too. The knowlegde stick told me about the wrist pin brg. horror, and wonder if anyone out there has heard of anything else that could possibly go wrong. I'm new only to PBP, I've been riding for 40yrs., but only pocket biking for 4yrs. In the 80's I rode Kawasaki 750 and 1000cc SBK's for 5yrs in Ontario, but got very expensive. Now my old race bikes are retired in the Okanagan Valley where I ride the GPz 750 still. PB racing is low cost and really love it, it's quitea challenge to ride these lil' devils fast.So anything you guys can offer would be much appreciated, going to the track tomorrow with the knowledge stick to try it out and I will keep the forum updated. -ride on

we can get some pictures of your bike for the forum aswell, and we'll deffinatly need to make another video. cant wait to see it in action, and glad you finally got onto thease forums after some comp trouble ! even as a experianced racer i knew thease guys would have a wealth of knowledge to assist you with your new water-cooled.

As soon as i heard it was the c5 model i wanted to make sure you didnt seize your motor up the first time we go out to ride together! id like to beat you, but not by engine failure ! lol

im sure thease guys can get you all caught up to speed on what needs to be tuned on this bike, out of box.

welcome to PBP enjoy your stay

P.S notice my squished air filter on my banshee still in my display picture ? LOL how sexy...

Cool Re: My new Star-X 50ccw/c C5

Thanx for the info triks, I'm sure it'll come in handy in the near future. Those bits & pieces you've mentioned will be purchased in time. The knowledge stick has clued me in on a few items to watch out for and adjust. Ya know what the worst thing I've found was, the gas tank sits right on the expansion chamber. Not a great design. So my remedy was to place heavy fiberglass roving (3 layers) between them. So anyone with one of these C5 bikes should take heed. This is a great site for us racers eh.

Yeh, and the bottle is in a bad place, it interferes with the left turn. So does the bars and the windshield area of the fairing.

Re: My new Star-X 50ccw/c C5

quick fix for cap was 1995 1.1 fiat punto cap.My c1 tank sits the same but not exactly on pipe haven't had any issues with that, coolent clips be wise to replace them, an get some water belts for pit box, also footpegs i use blata ones.

I guess any Fiat dealer could supply a 95 Punto cap. It's weird, when I was in europe last, thats the car I rented.

my bottle on my banshee does the same thing, i find just filling the res only a small bit will solve this problem, just make sure the hole radiator is full.

and peg, ill show you a trick at the track today to get more turning radious out of your turn if you havent moved your handle bars yet, i had the same issue on my banshee its a quick fix just gotta move some of the hose.

To me a Z1 is a Kawasaki 1000ccSBK from years ago. What is your version.

Yeah, I figure just move the bar clamps down the tube a little bit,. Is that what you were thinking?

Re: My new Star-X 50ccw/c C5

newbies ARE relentless,I've been watching them on eBay for quite some time and that is my summation of observation. Seen bikes go for 50, 80 &100 dollars or more, when I've paid much, much less for the ones I got for our race club. Only they, will push on one bike, when just down the list is the same bike for 10 bux.
So if you're one keep a clear head eh.

Re: My new Star-X 50ccw/c C5

Never mind all that then,
just got to ride my new C5(not sure what kind of rep it is), at the track and hoooolllly makrel does it ever GO!!! Out of the corner blasting, on the edge of a power wheelie, any more twist and I'd be *** over tea kettle. Wow does it ever go, I'm quite impressed.
Much different than my other cag's, or at least the ones without the N2O injecto's. Very happy with the newest equipment.

As for being a newbie, only to pbs, I think we can share the common trait.

Sounds like you got your bike pretty fast, any flaws with the motor? I'm guessing it didnt nuke itself on break-in eh.
