Question need advice on cagami 12hp 39cc h20 cooled bike

I rode a pocket bike for the first time about 3 weeks ago and i am sickly addicted. I will be buying a 4 hp air cooled for my girlfriend but i am about 200 lbs and assumed a 12 hp bike would be more my flavor. After reading a few reviews i am a little hesitant to invest the $650+ on the bike in question. I have seen the same pics of this bike for sale all over the net- are they all manufatured from the by the same factory? I am mechanicaly abled w/ vehicles but have never worked on anything remotely close to a pocket bike and it sounds like quite a few people have had pinion problems, clutch problems, carb hose problems, and some coolant problems. the last thing i need is to buy a bike that has something break everyday from the first day i buy it. I want a very fast bottom end (and top end) bike that is high performance but not too much fix it maintanance to just get it running. (upgrades are expected) I am prepaired to spend about $700. We have an indoor track here and i plan to begin racing novice when i get my bike. also i heard these bikes need to reach about 5000+rps's before the clutch will engage- is there a cheap way around this? Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thnx

it's simple. If you want a bike that will have high quality, last and have few problems buy a used Euro bike. Blata, GRC, Polini etc. that retail new for 1900 to 3000 that you can get used if you find te right deal for 700 to 900. They are race ready out of the box.

There also is no 4hp model. The full and half fairing models all use the same design of 40cc (there is no 47 or 49cc) just advertising. They put out 2.5hp at the back tire and 2.9hp at the crank.

The B1 copy is not 12hp it is 6.5hp at the engine but the bike is very heavy and does not handle that well due to it's weight. There are also breaking issues due to the qaulity. Once you get it you will have to replace the tires with real tires Sava or PMT at about 120 a pair then clutch upgrade then go through it and try and shave all the weight you can on the bike. The China copy is a great bike for under 500 but over that your better off going used Euro.

I would have to agree. I'm getting a polini 6.2 watercooled, which has a race pipe and other mods, which put it to about 8 hp, and will blow right past these cag w/c bikes, and all for 850. Its used, but if you're mechanically inclined, you can definitely fix the things that need to be fixed. OR, there's a guy selling a used polini 6.2 aircooled, just as fast or even faster than this w/c cag, and its practically brand new, for just 800.

You can't beat the quality of a good italian or czech bike. I've learned the hard way, as have others who ride cags. They are great starter bikes, but if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have bought any performance mods for the cag, and did all the mods myself. The most anyone should spend on a cag is 50 bucks. Anything more, save your money and get a euro...and this is coming from a person who has done ALL the mods possible on a cag.

The cag taught me a lot about 2 strokes and how to tune...so that was the benefit of getting a cag. But, I'm moving up to a polini...TOMORROW

good advise so far, except this is to be his first pb. i have a polini 90 a/c and a b1 cag w/c as well as others. while learning about pb's in general you are bound to break things on them it is lots cheaper to fix a cag than a polini, and when you are learning you will break just as much on a polini as a cag. i recomend a cag to start with then get a euro for racing. it will save $ AND frustration in the long run.

I would still look for a euro bike my first bike was a blata 13wr bought used for 1200.00 11.4hp in excellent shape it has been great have not broken anything on it yet it is bullet proof ,also bought a couple of cags for my sons seems like iam always wrenching on them but for 200. you can not go wrong

You said it your self for the price you can not go wrong. But I do beleive for a starter bike the C1 is not the way to go. Start on a couple of cags and work your way from there. Even being 200LBS you will have a whole lot of fun on a little old cag no need for 10HP out of the gate that is insane power for these little guys.
