The choke is on when the black knob is up and the choke is off when the black knob is down. So when you go to start it pull the black knob up and give it a 1/4 turn start it and let it warm up a minute than pull up on the black knob and turn it back a 1/4 turn and let it go down.
okay, but when u pull it up, its suppose to be open a bit right? and when open or closing, u can turn either way right?
Once you pull the knob up and turn it the carb will take care of the air and the fuel that is metered into the carb. The carb doesn't have a choke in the sence that it closes the bore of the carb like a lot of carbs do it just richens up the mixture to get it to start. Yes when you pull up the knob you can turn it either way to turn the choke on or off.
I read the story and nowhere did you say that you removed the carb and clean out the sediment bowl, yes sediment, that crap gathers in there if you don't have a fuel filter (do you have one?). Now that the crap is in there moving around and viberating like crazy in the bowl, it will get in with the flow up the main jet and the crap is to big to go through the little tiny teeny weeny hole, lol. plugs it, the bike stalls, the suction on the main jet stops, the crap that was pluging it drops back into the bowl and then when the bike starts again the miserable process begins again with only one reason, to make you nutz.
This has happened to me and a few others that I've heard of. How long was the gas in there, if you filled it, how good was the gas you put in. A bit of crap and your pooched.
Now come on, did you remove the carb and reed box to visually inspect and clean all the parts for tears or breaks or pieces missing inside? If not do it dang it! And be sure that the main jet is clean and clear, as well as the idle jet, old gas builds up a shelaque in the holes and it can move in the fuel way to cause the same effect as the crap in the bowl. Kinda like a flap.
Well check the coil to flywheel gap it should be about the thickness of a business card. It wouldn't hurt to check that you have a nice blue spark either. Can't hurt to rule them out.
Well follow the sparkplug wire to the coil than slip a business card between the coil and flywheel. You may have to take the pull start off. Than if you need to loosen the 2 bolts that hold the coil in place and let it fall on top of the business card and retighten those 2 bolts take out the card.
well i know a little and not familar with this, so the coil, are u guys taking about the wire that goes in the pull start ? im suppose to seperate that with the card ? and everytime i start my bike, its either this, i have to give it a bit gas or it jus dies, or then if i give it gas for too long the engines jus revs up by itself highly, and then dies on its owns? any help?
hey guys im only new to the gp3 rep to i traded up from a b1rep and i to am having trouble with mine its idling fine riding fine at low revs, but when i ride along faster and giv it a good rev it dies instantly(not completly stopping) Then i button off and can keep riding slow. Could i drill out the jet a wee bit???? to solve this problem?
this bike has many down problem, i hated this bike, even tho it does like nice , there are many things u have to do to make it run good ,but as for your situation, i think it might be a carb problem, i never figure out what happen to mine, i just sold it, now i'm riding a ninja 250
