My custom built 110cc midbike

September 15, 2009 by Stomper

Hi, I’m building a midbike almost from scratch.

Parts I have to build: The front fork (made from a Yam Zuma fork), the frame, swing-arm and the exhaust.

Parts i got: 2 pocket bike wheels, brake, fairing and a 110cc 4sp engine.

The drawing are made with DeltaCad and pipe fitting with tubemiter.

The frame is made from Canadian steel and will be TIG welded.

i would be alil concerned on how narrow the top part of the frame is, a 110cc motor is pretty fat, so the frame towards the bottom may need to be widened. also have to plan ahead with how fairings are going to mount etc. keep it coming though i wanna see this thing.

Re: My custom midbike 110cc

everything has been calculated, dont worry, on the pics you cant really tell.

The engine have 4" between the head and the front wheel so it's more than enough even for a 150cc engine.

the rear of the frame is not wide like your mini because i made it so the chain could be outside and the motor mount inside.

and remember that this is a pocketbike with shock, the plastic, wheel and brake come from a little CAG so it will be smaller than the X series.

It's not the first one i made, here is my prototype without shock.

Re: My custom midbike 110cc

i'm assuming those dimensions are for a muffler correct? if so, let me know how it turns out, i've been experimenting with muffler designs for my bike lately and haven't come up with anything that is quiet enough yet

Re: My custom midbike 110cc

More pics of the muffler, I made the tubing today with a sheet because i dont want to buy 24' of inox tubing for 18".

I need to drill some hole in the tube, weld it, put insulating wool then the 3 rivet.

Re: My custom midbike 110cc

Looks pretty good so far...I would double up on the lower fork clamp for extra strength against the extra weight and the engine could use a little more angle...You dont want the piston and crank rod smashing into the reservoir oil and the carb leaning too far forward causing idle , float setting problems and a possible smoky exhaust upon every startup...............Keep up the good work...........Peace

Re: My custom midbike 110cc

The fork clamp is made of aluminum 7016 ½" thick, and the front fork came from a Yamaha Zuma, i dont think my bike has any extra weight compared with a scooter.

For the engine angle i agree.

new pics with engine angle correction.
