I found a cheap 250cc motor around town and I was seriously considering doing a swap on my x19.

YES I DO KNOW IT REQUIRES QUITE A BIT OF FABRICATION

I was just wondering if it has been done before. I've measured, and It will fit with some new mounts, and some clearancing. I'm just thinking that this could be one hellish machine with a 250 on it.

I have a welder and really all the tools to do it, i just want to know if it has been done.

It's been done before in an x18 with very little mods. You'll be the first that i know of to put one in an x15.Heck if the price is right and you got the tools.I say go for it!........Just something with that stock swingarm. It will bend or break when you least expect it.

Is it a 250 2 stroke or 4 stroke? I know someone with a YSR 50 that he swapped in a KX250 motor into, shortly after he swapped in the KX250 swingarm as it is still nearly impossible to keep the front tire on the ground.
4 stroke. It was on a go kart and they only want 300 for it and it is clean as a whistle. I plan on reinforcing and extending the swingarm to keep it safe and on the ground. I'm just thinking about how quick it will be once it's up and running. I figure it will be a couple weekend project.

I ride my x19 legally right now around town. I got insurance and all that junk on it now. I would just like to have more power for uphills and streets that aren't that busy. I've checked via GPS and I can get up to 55 on a flat road easily right now, but being able to do 80+ would be really nice.

I know there is a guy that got the 160cc bore kit and can hit 89 ish, but hitting over 100+ would be nuts. I just couldn't imagine driving on the interstate and being passed by a pocket bike doing 80 lol.

I would never ride on the interstate, but it would be hilarious.:D

I'm not going for building a big racer bike, but having this pocket bike that can beat cars off the line would be great.

is it a bike engine? It is possible as swheels said you would need to strengthen the swingarm. If its a bike or quad engine it has gears which would be great.

If it's the honda clone 250cc 4 stroke,in stock form. I'm pretty sure it's not making enough power to put you that far over the 80mph mark. Plus that bike that did you said did 89's.On the video he posted it did 85mph going down a hill.Plus the kid had his 160cc motor built by someone. So it wasn't a stock 160ccc motor.
You still would have some fun though.Even if it's just a cruiser,it wouldn't hurt to have better tires and brakes.Especially with the extra weight of that motor.Oh plus some suspension.

That guy must have done something else to the motor.1. those are stock gearing for the midbikes even with the 5spd tranny 107 will not be obtainable. Infact i watched a video awhile back of a guy from Cali.Who had a 200cc lifan in his ysr.It only did 65mph according to the owner. Those motor stock form don't pull enough rpms for the gearing to break the 100mph mark.

yeah, i'm still doing some research as to what will be needed. If i can get this motor, change my gearing, and get everything running okay, then we'll see what it can do. If it hit's 80, I'll be happy. I just want it to be more realistic as a bike to take around town. hitting 50/55 around town isn't that spectacular, and i'm lucky to hit 45 up a hill, i couldn't imagine how it would be like that in heavy traffic.

ive rode in traffic plenty of times on my x18
bike prolly topped out in the 70s and that was a stock 150
i hit 73mph in my 125 also
i agree that you need 90mph speed capabilities on the highway, but i did ok
around town you dont want a irk, it could die at a light, or you have to keep the idle high
the ork seems to be ok, i havent stalled it yet
