39cc to 46cc engine upgrade - how much power?

Hi all,

I am just thinking about certain ideas on my bike, I have seen the 46cc upgrade kit on Petrol scooter, seems pretty good as its a good upgrade, question is what sort of power would it increase it to? Am I correct that the standard 39cc engine is around 8bhp? Would the upgrade increase to around 10bhp or so?

Re: 39cc to 46cc engine upgrade - how much power?

I would think if it had 8hp at 39cc that it could do 10hp at 46cc. That is with a good set of reeds.

I myself have a Blata 46cc top-end for a project I plan to finish this Winter. I'm building up a Blata C1 with:
-46cc BBK w/15:1 dome
-ZPF cnc water jacket
-ZPF rep. exhaust
-Genuine Blata reeds, wrist pin and coil
-Full port as well.

I'm hoping I can get at least 12-14hp out of this.

Cool, I had read that its 1 or 2 bhp increase, but I guess thats not the whole picture as the larger displacement would increase the torque, I have some decent CF reeds in the bike I am thinking of upgrading it with. Its nice that it seems a pretty easy upgrade due to the fact its just replacing the top end rather than bottom end.

While you have it apart or take the new parts and mod them before you put it together, and there is alot of mods you can do with just a few tools, for even more horsepower. hk motos had 50cc C1 kits for $58 shipped.

Re: 39cc to 46cc engine upgrade - how much power?

Hmmm I will check that out, I am in the UK, I have seen that petrol scooters and funbikes have the upgrade kit for about £40ish which has the head, piston and cylinder, so basically a full top end rebuild that I need anyway.

Are there any larger kits than that?

If there are larger kits available for air cooled perhaps it might be worth me looking at those? Although a 49cc air cooled is half the power of a 37cc water cooled lol

Most Blata suppliers only ship to your side of the world and not N. America.

Re: 39cc to 46cc engine upgrade - how much power?

The C1 motor loves to rev. Get some thick fg reeds. The stock carb is crap and the biggest bottleneck. Also you need to clean up the ports on the stock cylinder and make sure your squish and compression check out ok. Stock I bet the C1 is 6-8hp if you have a good one. You make sure the squish is good, upgrade the carb, clean up the ports and fix the exhaust its easily 8hp with the stock displacement. If you can stuff the case and make sure crank stuffers that engine is just mean
