Re: x2 wont fire properly

i got round to replacing the head gasket today and although i couldnt ride the bike, i held the back wheels off the ground and it sounded and ran alot better, it also idled alot better too. i tried firin it up before replacin it because last sunday it just started losin power then wouldnt start, when i tried today again it wouldnt start, i knew none of the typle things where wrong because when i tested for spark the plug was right next to the hole and it blew a massive fireball out which was funny lol. but anyway changed the gasket and it fired up after 3 pulls and now runs a hell of a lot better. its still havin to run a bit rich but tomorrow im gonna go over it and retorque the head bolts and carb bolts. and in the morning i plan to remove the estart

Make sure you have a Big Hammer, lol. Make sure you remove the magnet screws after you break the magnets off.

Re: x2 wont fire properly

all was goin great today (aint done the leccies yet) new head gasket, properly inflated tyres and sorted the front caliper out the bike was absolutely flyin. untill me and my mate where ridin slow next to each other i discovered my lsn was lean. now need a new piston and cylinder so i guess im not gettin the zorst for the mta2 yet. time to do some pricing and depending on what change i have i might look into some sort of upgrade for the engine

i would post the pics and vids from today but again no helmets so they will just get removed

Re: x2 wont fire properly

what should i do guys? i can get a cylinder and piston for £22 and some pennies leavin plenty of change to get an alu pullstart and snake exhaust for the mini. but tbh ive had nothin but trouble with this engine from day 1. i can get a new engine for £70 leavin change for a alu pullstart but no snake exhaust. money aside what would be the best option?

Re: x2 wont fire properly

Maybe it's not the engines fault, maybe it is the Loose Nut behind the wheel, lol. What choice do you have, sounds like a decent price. When you go to rebuild the upper end, take a good look at the crank and rod and pin bearings. If the rod bearing goes, can do alot of damage, and I am speaking from experiance, lol.

thats exactly why im thinkin about just replacing the engine. i dont know how much damage the previous owner has done or how much damage has been done now

£70 is for a non leccy start model which is ideal since im removin it anyway, i can just put the casin on the new engine so im not breakin my knuckles on the frame. a leccy start model is a fiver more
non leccy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1607641084...84.m1438.l2649
leccy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1906626659...84.m1438.l2649
maybe for the sake of a fiver i could get the leccy start then sell the starter on ebay or something and see if i can get some money back, i just dont know how much demand there is for em

Re: x2 wont fire properly

Yeah, I hear you, it is cheaper sometimes to buy the engine than a few parts. A crank alone is $30+
Plus, you will have spare parts, yes. My new Zenoah electric start engine in my scooter has a 4 bolt intake and 7mm exhaust bolts instead of 6mm.

Re: x2 wont fire properly

the engine in mine now has 4 bolts on the intake. not sure on the size of the exhaust bolts though. if i get the engine and worst comes to the worst i can just cram the gubbins of the new engine in the old crank case... i hope. but tbh im still unsure on what i want to do. i want the zorst for my mini but i also wouldnt mind havin a brand new shiny engine in my midi :S i think it may be a coin flipping decision
what do i need to lock the front pulley of the cvt to get the bolt undone?
it looks like im gonna have to get the top end parts if i want the bike runnin by the weekend, i dont think matey is gonna be able to send the rest of the money over this week ffs

Re: x2 wont fire properly

If you have the 4 bolt, then you have 2 1/2" long studs on the exhaust port, and a lawn mower can exh.,lol. The studs are M7x1.0, I got 3/8" ID water pipe cut two piece, drilled out my HP exhaust flange holes to 7mm, put it on then the spacers and nuts.

Re: x2 wont fire properly

i dont have a lawn mower can exhaust, ive got the standard x2 exhaust with no expansion chamber that sticks out the back...
took the leccy start out today and how strong are those magnets lol. ive left the stator in for now because i cba smashin the center out but without the head on and magnets in place it felt as if somebody was holding onto the crank while pullin the pullstart, without the magnets it turns free a bird... sweet. also checked the bearings over and had a good look in the crank case and its all fine, no gnarling from the bearings and no swarf inside so i can get away with just a top end rebuild again.
also is there any special tips for lockin the front pulley on the cvt to get the bolt out?

Re: x2 wont fire properly

Do not know any thing about the CVT trans, except you can mod it with different rollers inside. Cam2 has modded abunch of those. It's in his Cag, Cag, Cag Thread.

Re: x2 wont fire properly

ive had an idea, ive got a luggage strap, not a ratcheting strap but 1 you pull tight and a gripper holds it in place, might be able to get that to lock it in place. cylinder and piston are ordered and will hopefully be here tomorrow but its not the end of the world if not. i really appreciate all your help epr, youve been great

Re: x2 wont fire properly

I have been working on my X18 rear hydraulic brakes, replaced the master & brake caliper. The piston in the master was frozen, I ran one side of my pads to the metal, glad I found before I ruined the disc, lol.

Re: x2 wont fire properly

ffs im startin to get fed up with this bike. put the top end back together, put the carb manifold back on on, put the carb back on and the manifold fell to bits. the brass collars inside that the carb bolts into snapped and came out so i chopped the manifold down so the carb could bolt into the other half of the collars and 1 side snapped the plastic off round out ffs and itl cost £9 to get a new 2 bolt manifold and that wont be till next week, if i ever get paid

Re: x2 wont fire properly

For the Zenoahs there is an alum 2 bolt intake manifold. The MTA1 plastic intake manifolds get hard and warp also. New ones are flexiable, old ones are not.
You lost me on the hole in the piston, is that a 49cc reed port engine, they don't have a hole. The hole is to feed a third port on the top side of a MTA1 Cyld.
