Re: Cateye 49cc

The 4 bolts in the cases are behind the clutch and can be taken off with the clutch on but the flywheel and or clutch have to come off the get the crank out off the cases.

Re: Cateye 49cc

The clutch has 2 big bolts on a piston port, and then the flywheel, I might have used a puller but it was not to hard.

Re: Cateye 49cc

After taking off clutch & nut in center for flywheel off. puller still wouldn't get it. Even put big bolts from clutch back in flywheel to pull from. Nothing. Looks like may be some kind of keyway or something in there.?. Looks straight forward but I'm missing something.

Re: Cateye 49cc

Running them bolts and pushing off the cases should do it. There is a key for timing of the spark, the 10% key advances your ignition. The crankshaft is tapered w/ the key, which makes it want to bind. Have you tried tapping on the sides with pressure on the bolts??

Re: Cateye 49cc

Can you tap the flywheel from the back side, thru the case cooling fins, from the counter weights and magnets 180 apart. Have to be careful you can get it sideways on the taper, if you move one side to much at it can hang up like bearing, give it a good tap, turn 180, tap, etc.

Re: Cateye 49cc

The offset goes forward, with the direction the engine turns. It advances the magnets on your flyw 10 degrees.
The keyless clutches are glued on, so, when the shoes wear out, I take the bolts, springs and arms and bolt them up the the 3 arm base on the crank.

Re: Cateye 49cc

I forgot, drill holes in your clutch arms to lighten them, it will make them stay closed longer, so you can get more RPMs before take off, lol. I use my spring loaded center punch and a hand drill, Cam2 has done them right on the engine, lol.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im glad U didnt give up.............

Orient the crank to 12 o'clock..put the key in so the raised offset is towards 11 o'clock seings the engine turns counterclockwise at the flywheel............Thats the same as positioning the raised offset towards the exhaust port.......good Luck and good job so far

Thanks for explaining that good for me. I understand now how weighted magnets at 180° do the timing. Makes sense. Was gonna put it together last night but neighbors cat got out. Chase... Bite.... ER... antibiotics. Lil bastard i don't even like cats! for helping me guys!

Re: Cateye 49cc

One is just a counter weight to balance the magnets.

Saw you say 1s a weight & 1s a magnet. Does it matter which one is by the key?

The flywheel only goes back on one way but when it does it will be 10 degrees advanced which means 10 degrees earlier into the stroke and combustion the spark will activate a bit earlier to really make the power pop....................

Set the highspeed needle on the side of the carb to 1 3/4 turns out

To set the lowspeed needle youre gonna need a small jewelers screwdriver to adjust it.....

To know whether its in the ballpark on jetting I go with if it starts up from dead cold with-in 3-5 pulls with the choke and can turn the choke off and ride normal with-in a minute...........then i prop the rear wheel up and highspeed tune it then ride then readjust if needed for gaining best takeoff power or topend speeds if needed............

Id start with a fresh mix at 42:1 ratio 93 octane fuel and a fresh sparkplug NGK BPMR7A gapped to .030- .035".....
