It will take a catastrophic failure on our part but it can happen. Infact my bud and i was beaten in the 09 usmgp national championship by a bonestock 110cc my other friend was riding.I mean BONE STOCK!Right before the last race my friend says wouldn't it be funny if Reid wins.(as a joke) I immediately told him you better not jinx's us. Sure enough i gotta bad start(stall on the line) By the time i got my bike fired back up, the field was gone! So i had to push hard early but i knew i could catch them.Tires were still cold,i crashed out on the second lap and broke the front break lever.LOL So my buddy was on his x18 with a stock 184cc Had lapped Reid but when it came down to the final lap.Something broke on his bike and his leather pant leg had got stuck between the rear sprocket and chain and went off the track.LOL Well Reid catches him and goes by chugging along. So my bud tries desperately to get unhooked.By the time he did he could have caught Reid but instead of crossing the finish line, he pulled into the pits.LOL Because his foot peg bracket had broken off but the bike was still running. All he had to do was put it in any gear and he could have ran pass Reid for the win.LOL

So that's how a bone stock 110cc x15 won the usmgp national Championship in the modded gp shifter class.LOL The funny thing was the crowd was standing on their on toes with anticipation and cheering for my friend to hurry and Reid to hurry up to thee finish line.LOL It was great! But i was ****ed that my bud had open his mouth and jinxed us.

Well my bike might be 16 to 18hp But more so on the 16hp side.LOL Now every year the rest of the guys go bigger on their motors i usually do too.But i won't since i've gotten so use to my bike.So more than likely if you see any of us(besides me still running my same motor)They will be modded 184cc's and bigger. So they will definitely be in the 20hp range and over.We always expect to be racing against each other. In our own class so we kinda agreed that,if you can ride your xbike safely out on that track. It deosn't matter what the size of the cc's your running unless it's stock or modded 110. We don't complain because we know how hard it can be to get a big hp motor to work with the rest of the xbike. Mainly do to lack of aftermarket suspension and brakes and things of that nature. So it's like bolt it in at your own wrisk.LOL Sorry for the long post. LOL

Re: SPA 2010 Series

those orgs dont reconize our bikes as a class anyway, we usually end up grouped into other shifter classes
depending on the motor installed we would be in the unlimited class i guess, like cr85 or 150r
core, i dont knee drag yet but you can put sliders on jeans if you need too, i know a dude that duct taped them on!

Now as of right now our bikes are legal to race in certain org. Like the NJminiGp and sandyhook and such plus i was told also that my bike can run under semra rules at the palmetto track. There are guys that race at the palmetto track under semra and sportin 184cc motors. So even when guys go to even bigger motors. They still will be able to race in organizations.
When we built our mids they were supposed to be in there own class but like Blitz stated. We'd show up to race and not have enough to fill the grid. Then have to play fill ins for what ever shifter bikes are there.
A 85cc water cooled 2stroker makes waaaayyy more hp than my motor. What i like most about the track in Dublin Ga. Is if there's a 6hp difference, that can be equalled out on the track.Mess up on 1 turn then that could kill you for the next sequence of turns.

Re: SPA 2010 Series

agree with S
it really depends on the track and rider skill
i won a race on a 12hp bike against a 85 among others just because i managed the turns better and didnt make any mistakes
are you getting a mid AJ?
the nsf looks nice but unless you do a build like fireman i doubt its gonna have enough power

Re: SPA 2010 Series

i was thinking about it. im inbetween getting a mid, or getting a 50cc open pocket bike. at the palmetto track they were going to let me ride my bike with the mids. so i think if i brought a 50cc open PB out there i could do pretty good lol. i was practicing with them on my lil 2.5 blata and i would get left in the straights but make it back up in the turns. so i think even if i took my prody bike out there i could be competitive with the mids

Re: SPA 2010 Series

If i was in your position i :A make sure my vehicle could transport the bike.B see what being race at the track the most as far as class wise. This should have been A but what you think you'll be more comfortable on.

I don't know how far you are from me,i live in fayetteville Nc.We have a great lot to practice at and i swear to you it's like a track.Except for the curb.LOL but it's an enclosed layout. When you get our mid or whatever your more than welcome to come practice with us or if you have a spot in your kneck.I'd be happy to head on down for some practice.I think i'm gonna try and get more trackdays in at the palmetto track for next year. OOO And also got to get to the track in kershaw also.

Re: SPA 2010 Series

it depends on who you ride against
i raced a 40 open with a good rider and it took me a few laps to get past him, he said later that his 50 open was just a wheelie machine and he was actually faster on the 40
at the end of the day everybody was scared to race against the mids, which is what gave me the idea for a final event race with all the 'fast' bikes together, for the 'fastest at the track' title

I don't think they will go for that though. Although i think it would've been kinda fun.

Re: SPA 2010 Series

i wouldnt mind racing with the mids. i mean heck it will hurt the same being in a wreck with one no matter what size bike you are on. i dont think i will have the same wheelie problem as the other guy. i weigh 200 lbs where most pocket bikers weigh around the 165 mark i believe. im thinking that my extra weight where it hurts me in the lower power classes will give me an edge on the 50 open class because i will have better control over all that power.

Man if i lived 5mins from that track they would hate me with a passion.LOL Sun up to sun down i'd be there.LOL Hey you might have to check out that Kershaw track. I'm dyiing to check it out,16 turns that's gotta be some fun. Plus a decent size straight away so you could probably open a mini up on that track.

Hey i Don't know why Spa-usmgp don't hold an event at the kershaw track. This is one sick track. I think the first track day i do in 2011 is gonna be at this track. It takes a 80cc shifter kart almost a full min to get around the whole track. So you can imagine on these little mini's we would probably be looking at speeds well over 60-70mph on the front straight and even 60mph through some turns.
