water cooled noob needs help with carb

i currently have my bike taken apart due to chewing up a ring. so were going with a ported head, PBU flat top piston, CF reeds, and finially a dellorto SHA 19mm carb. one question, HOW DO YOU TUNE THIS THING? what combo do you guys run as far as jetting, i know it has a idle jet screw, a idle screw, about 3 jets and a atomizer, based on what i have read you need to change the atomizer, no big, tsunamibike to the rescue. but what needle? i know c clip, help a brotha out

An SHA 19mm they only have a main jet are you sure its not a PHBG 19mm Dell 'orto?? There is a choke jet, idle jet and main jet. The air idle screw, and clip on the carb needle, 5 adjustments. Every engine is different, its hit or miss. I am trying to covert a 16mm Walbro WT-813 on my 40cc Polini Rep engine, cause the are so easy to tune. A pocket knife with a blade and your set, lol. Does it look like this?

Re: water cooled noob needs help with carb

Is it a real Dell or copy?? I have a 19mm rep kit for my 50cc C1 and for a B/B Cag engine, from hk motos. Look the same except fot the rubber/steel int. manifold. On my C1 after talking to StrawDawg63, I when to the biggest jet in the jet kit, 1.01mm, haven't tried to mess with the idle or pilot jet. Messed w/ the air idle screw, but when you let off the engine takes a few seconds for it to back down to idle but the clutches release right away. With 8 bikes and three projects going not going to get to it for awhile, lol.
The weather in California is unreal, 66-68 degrees in the middle of winter, I have got so much done, I thought it would be spring before I could start.

Re: water cooled noob needs help with carb

Looks like you guys in the US are have a great warm winter ! Pity we're having such a rainy summer here. Its rained every second day since the end of winter here. We're nearly done with summer and we've had about 5 days so far that you could call summer which also means that this winter for us is going to be another long bitter one (for australia) most probably. Grrrrr.

Re: water cooled noob needs help with carb

yea im up for a good challenge, these c2 bikes arent really convient to work on, no space. im probably gonna drill the frame brackets so i can at least get a screw driver in there. with that flat top piston, ported head, carb and CF reeds im kinda scared lol.i remember the first time i rode it and hit the powerband, talk about terror lol.

Re: water cooled noob needs help with carb

That's what I did on my C1, drilled two different size holes in the left alum frame support to reach the 2 screws. My problem is the exhaust sets on top off the choke knob, so no choke and I rasie the rear pipe mount up 1 inch.

I dont recall off the top of my head but look in the sticky 19mm dell rep vs 19mm dellorto. It will give you all the bits to put in that carb. Its at the top of the water cooled section

Sounds like my wife too. When she bugs me about pocketbikeplanet, I bugg her about her stupid FaceBook, I call it SpaceBook. What a waste of time.
On the choke, some of the real Dells have a lever there that might work. I use what even I have to cover the air cleaner and it starts right up, no problem if it is warm. Someday, I might make my own lever, lol.
