Thumbs up Western North Carolina Riders!

What up everyone? Me and one other guy ride near the Asheville area on weekends. I roll a RR and he rides a Careena. We ride at a new elementary school (with permission). Anyone lookin' to hook it up just me know.

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

Ok here's the scoop...the layout is probably about 4 acres total of pavement. The way the school is made is almost exactly like a track. There are several ways to make a lap and we mix it up depending on whether or not we want to run tight or flowing. This is great because you get the best of both worlds. There are hard lefts/rights, a chicane, and a LONG left-hander that I can take my Super Proddy through almost pinned. It's desolate with no houses around so noise isn't too big a concern. My other buddy brings his Z50 out and rocks wheelies while we ride the pocketbikes. Your X1 and X7 would be fine.

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

Here's something i find funny.I took the time to go through all the threads about guys from nc looking for either people or a place to ride. Now iv'e come up with a list of 19 names of people who where looking for more people or a place to ride. Here's the funny part i am the only one who replied to this thread so far.LOL And they wounder why we don't have a track. It seems there are only a few thats willing. If these guys get serious we could have something realy good going. And this list of names are only in the nc state.I didn't even lookin into the sc area yet.By the way how far is asheville from fayetteville? Because if i'm willing to make an attemp.I don't see why people in the surrounding areas can't make it.

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

Where ya from photo? Swheels, I couldn't have said it better myself. By the way you are roughly 4-6 hours away (just a guess). As far as myself, I ride off-road, dual-sport, and used to ride sportbikes before a good friend got killed on his CBR. I am ALWAYS down for a good ride. If people were truly serious about our sport we would have a track in NC by now. I have been riding pocketbikes for about 6 years now, all the way back to the classic 910 Careena (my buddy rides that one now) and have watched 'em all come and go. I actually drove to Memphis and bought that Polini from Midsouthminimoto when they were still doing business out of their home. When I picked it up I just knew that with time this sport would be right up there with karting. I am starting to beleive otherwise as this sport is starting to fizzle. In my eyes it would truly be a waste to have so many people riding these things and not one track ever being built. If nothing else, it's a blast for all the young kids. You see pocketbikes at every Advance Auto and PepBoys, but don't dare try and ride it anywhere because you will be run off in 5 minutes. If I had the $$$ I would build a track myself, but it is gonna take pure volume of riders to really get this thing going in the South. I would hate to have to fly me AND my GRC to Florida just get out on the track.

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

No doubt. My weeks are full so a weekend is a must. I guess this is why it's so hard to get people together.

Man north carolina is huge.Although there are many people willing to ride we are just scattered out so far from each other and that seems to be one of the biggest problems also. I was thinking if there was some way for us to pick a location thats like in between.Sorta like a center point to where we can balance out the distance that would be travelled. So it would sorta make the travel time and distance a little shorter for the guys looking to get together and ride. But i guess it's just wishful thinking.

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

I plan to run at VIR the 1st weekend of June. Danville is roughly 4 hours from where I'm at. I want to bring my buddy with me but he doesn't want to run his 4.2 Cereena (he weighs 215lbs.) He can ride pretty decent but it's his choice I guess. I told him if he would just go I would be glad to let him ride SUMO on my GRC...we will see. I plan on running proddy and super proddy. I currently run 7-70 for fast parking lot stuff. What kind of gearing are we talking here minimotoracer311?

Re: Western North Carolina Riders!

I am excited. I'm not new to pocketbikes...rode a LOT of parking lot stuff, some fast some tight, for about 6 years on and off. I haven't been on a track yet though and to be honest never really rode with people I considered fast. I look forward to getting my tail whipped and having a blast at the same time! BTW, that must be a fast track. Is there any way I could get my hands on some pics of the track?
