CVT transmission on X1?

Can you put the CVT trans on an X1 bike. What exactly does the cvt do and does it give you more speed?

Hey Ryan,

U can put a CVT on the X1 but don't think its going to be a piece of cake when it comes to installing it. My buddy had to do some triming on the bike frame so that the CVT casing would sit properly. My obersavation was that the x1/cvt did not show a big advantage over the non CVT x1 on the straight aways.

Over the weekend a group of us did test our bikes in what seemed like a quarter mile drag race and the best it could do was a consistent 32mph on a radar gun. The non CVt was hitting 31mph. The non CVT only had an airfilter and jetpro pipe. However, we speculate that it must have came with a true 49cc motor. There was just no way it could have been that ballistic on take off and top end. BTW; the x1/cvt was outfitted with a HP carb/filter/pacsale pipe and boost bottle. The riders were both of same height and weight 5"8- 160#

Yep , a Cvt When tuned right keeps your motor running in the powerband almost all the time, from the starting line to the finish. Its kind of like a 10 speed automatic tranny. I dont know how hard it will be to put one on, but it will help. There are lots of mods you can do to a CVT-Kelvar belt-less slip much longer life, overdrive variator-higher top end, stiffer clutch arm springs-delays the clutch letting you get a higher rpm take off, stiffer variator spring-holds the CVT in a lower gear ratio a little longer. You can do lots of to a CVT to make it quicker and faster
