Update on my DM

So this little bike of mine has been a fun project for almost 2 years now. It started out a early thousands DM gp-1 but with a polini case and a 40cc 3-port bzm barrel. I got it for around $700 initially. So far what I've done to it:

-50cc bzm 5-port motor.
-21mm carb with new airfilter
-2007 swing arm
-updated rear brake (still not hydro)
-newer bzm curved radiator and new hoses
-newer fairings.

I still need to update the front end of the bike. The triple tree, forks, handlebars and grips. That is my next task. That or either get a secondary smaller engine for goofing off. like a polini 6.2 ac or a 40cc 3 port wc.

First couple photos is the bike in its original form and then the updated engine and then its current form.

Re: Update on my DM

Looks pretty good Kray...Id just get another topend at the ready so you always ride the same power level to keep the skills sharp..

I see you say you want to upgrade the front forks.....They sell a DM Telai frame with Hydro brakes...The front forks are better too...

Have you dialed-in seat height and tried using the wishbones?

There was a member that was selling a DM a while back way before you joined that had one with two different height/angle seat brackets multi height footpeg brackets and 6 different sized wishbones..

Periodically check those trellis frames for cracks especially where the frame gets narrow...Theres a mod to structurally strengthen the frame to keep the cracking from always happening too if they happen to appear....

Good to see you're still having fun.....Take care.

Yeah, my hope was to get some adjustable wishbones.

The plan is to get new forks with at least a hydro front brake. I've had a few buys fall through in italy due to shipping being too expensive. Thats just the best place to get parts for these bikes. Germany and France are willing to ship but they don't have as much stuff.

I'll keep an eye out for cracks. Thanks for the tip.

It happens under the forward seat bracket trunion and forward footpeg bracket mount...

If you look at the other seat trunion its braced...It may be a rumor that somebody at DM left that bar out on accident that was later discovered by a factory rider whos frames were redone the proper way but whats not a rumor is the cracks that occur in and around that area.
