Re: Help!!need to convince my mom...!

well im 19 and ive been ridin them and dirtbikes since i was 13, and drivers dont always see you, no matter how load your bike is... that doesnt stop them from pullin out in front of you, its happened plenty of times to me buddy, and i often find myself gettin in trouble with them when i was younger.

*laffs* Hey, that's MY line, Dante!

Patrick, you're not going to be riding it on the street (which is illegal, anyway), you'll be riding it in an empty parking lot. So what's the hassle about cars not seeing you? You're not going to BE anywhere near cars that are driving around ......

Re: Help!!need to convince my mom...!

I got my bike when I was 12. But when I went to go buy it with my mom and my own money she said " everthing that you buy or have to pay for with the bike (parts, upgrades, COP tickets) you have to pay for and take full responisbility." And I said yes mom and bought it. Here I am 3 years later with the same bike with 100% of it payed by me and 100% custom bike. If thats not inspiration I dont know what is........

Re: Help!!need to convince my mom...!

Explain what spyguy said about parking lots, i thought i would be badass to ride on streets when i was younger, but luckily i realized thats really stupid before i bought one, tell her that this means alot to you, offer to do extra chores for the privilege of it, But deffantly dont cry or yell about it, it seriously doesnt get you anywhere, im 15 and ive been there done that when i was younger, doesnt help.

Re: Help!!need to convince my mom...!

the thing about having alot of crashes is false, I'm 17 and been wanting a pocket bike since I was 12, my mom had the same exact excuse, but apparently I just won mine in a car show contest and having the fun of my life. After my mom saw me riding it and how okay it really was she wanted me to sell all my videogames for another pocket bike, but it's my job to say ride them in parking lots, street ridings illegal, try to find a large community center parking lot or something like that.

so are you alowed to ride them in car parks because in the UK we arent

When you buy one over here they say you can only ride on private land with the owner’s permission. so it sux!

not to bring up an old thread where the OP probably won't see this anymore..

But same over here in the 'merica's. Car parks, or parking lots as we call them are a common place for people to ride at, but it IS private property, and you ARE tresspassing. The key is, if you're not causing trouble and being respectful to other people, cars, and the law. Then things will be ok. If you're out there acting like a dumbass kid, things will go wrong quickly.

you can register these over here as 107cc scooters (the pocketbikes are to small period to be legal).

so for the x15/x19, x18, and x17 (this was a mid bike right?), they are bigger, but still dangerous and shouldn't be rode on the streets. if you do, and they are properly legal, I'd have a 'warning' flag on the back so it makes you more vis.

Now I do ride in the street illegally, even without helmet (shame on me). I don't worry about the cars not seeing me, because I see them, and I pull over. I obey all speed limits and stop signs, use hand turn signals when need be.

but i am ALWAYS stopped when a bigger motor vehicle is around me.

Just saying the OP's mom has a point, don't ride these in the street unless you're a season'd vet and have learnt the rules and have respect for the game.

In the UK you have to wear a D.O.T approved helmet.
In the UK people get mad easy about pocketbikes, go-peds and if you get caught the "motorized vehicle" it will be crushed by the law
I always take my bike to a pocketbike curcuit.
Im considering taking it to a car park but its a bit of a risk.

Always Happy To Help :)

That's the same here. Well, some states don't require a helmet, and some states DO crush the bike/car.

But, what we do not have here is pocketbike tracks. or go-kart tracks, or tracks of any kind. I live near a full-sized track for cars and bikes, but it's really hard to get in there. There's two 1/4 mile drag strips i live by... oh and live by means less than 3 hours away...

But then again, i do live in a town that's pop is 45,000.. I used to live in a village of 500, where I rode my bikes and atvs daily on the streets, all four of them. LOL

well our track is 43.7 miles away, it cost's £20 for 1hr and £30 for 3hr and thats for arive and drive...... Rip off just to get there its expensive diesel is NOT cheap over here: £1.75 per metric liter.

Always Happy To Help :)
