the best spray paint is https://www.eastwood.com/paints/2k-a...ay-paints.html my friend uses it for small jobs at his auto body shop

First you lay down your primer

Second the color

Third is the clear

Faster then a speeding E Revo

If you want better than decent paint job, I would consider purchasing an HVLP paint gun.

Re: best spray paint ??

I use 600 degree engine spray paint, its gas and oil resistant, then if you want spray clear. I wipe the frame and or engine to be painted with acetone, which removes oil & turns your paint into primer. If its rusted I would strip down to bare metal and start with primer.

Re: best spray paint ??

3 weeks ago this question was asked...

Any progress?

Any pics? Even if its currently in 500pcs post one up...

What brand paint did you go with?

What color or colors did you choose?

Are you planning onstripping the paint down?

Are you gonna use primer?

You got so much baller cash why not just get the frame and rims professionally powdercoated for the best durability and finish??

Re: best spray paint ??

My vintage dirtbike buddies swear by this stuff for hardened clear coat over your paint. Some of these guys do museum quality work ya wouldn't wanna get dirty..

https://www.spraymax.com/en/products...2k-clear-coat/

Full disclaimer, I've never used it, I like to ride mine, lol, but it's a 2-part deal. You puncture the can from the bottom which releases a catalyst into the clear coat resulting a hardened finish.

Looks like a good product....I may need to try it out on the rollbar on my 72 camaro....Hopefully the crossbar n such will stay looking good alot longer...LOL

My powdercoat guy can powdercoat anything in any texture including stone like marble, granite etc....

He even has clearcoats, clearcoats with a twist and even clear metallics...

He even has a flamegun applicator to apply powderclat to plastics too.....

Thanks for the tip on the CC.....

Re: best spray paint ??

That YZ 490 is a killer in the Vintage Dirtbike crowd CAM. By 83 the suspension revolution was underway and that motor has everything the right hand of a human being will ever need. I'll be meeting a buddy from Colorado who rides one next month for our 6th annual California Dreamin' ride. Buncha old guys trying to relive the glory days of our youth. Always a good time.

I've been spinning the back tire on this for more than most of a decade now.

1971 Yamaha 360 Enduro. Obviously the suspension revolution had not yet arrived! But hey, one of those bikes won the Baja 1000 in 1970. When I was 18 they were the bike to have.

Nice sweet looking bike..I used to love those XL Hondas....

I had an XR400 street legal and it was pretty fast with an MSD ignition system and high compression engine....

My real baby was my DR650 w/780 big bore kit and KTM 500 EXC.

Oh I know about those...Theyre pretty killer bikes....

Although this thing isnt as old as that beauty this 1984 RM125 was kinda a one of a kind model and for the year one of the most powerful and toughest 125cc bikes...

Stock RM125 of the prior year 1983 was only 32hp....The 84 had 11 more hp than the other 84 125cc models plus came with a heavy duty snowmobile type clutch and was capable of running over 120mph on dirt.

The one I have I turned it into an alcohol burner..Topped out at a tad over 140mph...

It was so crazy on dirt that I used to leave the knobby on and smoke 350-400hp cars on the asphalt with it....LOL

Re: best spray paint ??

How do you keep track of a herd that size CAM?

It depends on your definition, as in, does a frame count? Parts bikes? lol. But I've got somewhere between 5 and 10. That's not too many .....

Re: best spray paint ??

my favorite old motorcycle is the Kawasaki 2 stroke 500 and 750cc triple cyld. In NHRA bracket racing on my 1015cc Kawasaki Pro Stock bike I ran against a turbo charged triple, guy turned a 9.45 second run. He went under his time which gave me the win.
