X7 running rough

So i got a x7 less than a month ago and i got it running after a couple weeks but after some running it ran out so i went to go fill it up again but and just let it be. That was about a week ago and now when i tried to start it, it could start but only if i held the throttle open a little more than idle. Ive used the same mixture in other things like weed wackers with no problem but now all of a sudden the bike just cant idle for more than 30 seconds and when it is idling, it smokes more than usual then dies. I think its running rich but im not the biggest expert on 2 strokes, maybe theres a mixture screw on the carb but im not to sure which screw it is. Its also smelling stronger just to add.

Two stroke mix seperates as it sits..the heavier oil goes to the bottom and when that happens it oil fouls sparkplugs..

Shake the tank to mix the gas n oil,,pump the primer bulb 10-12 times to evacuate the oil rich fuel from the fuellines and put a fresh new or perfectly clean sparkplug then you should be good..

In case its not.. its not good to run a pumper carb dry then let it sit dry after fuel has been run through them..the ethanol in the fuel messes with the fuel flappers, pumper fork and pumper diaphragm inside the carb..

There is a mixture screw and a fuel rate screw...fuel rate is on the side and LSN/HSN is on top..

Alright so ive cleaned the spark plug and shook up the tank some more, that's made it able to idle without shutting off but its still hard to get started and is way more smokey than i think it should be. Based on that i think its running a little gas rich(not sure if thats the right logic) so if it is running rich which screw do i turn and which direction to decrease the fuel intake or let more air in?

Just now took the spark plug out and it seems like its covered in carbon even though i just cleaned it before i ran it. Also while taking a look inside the spark plug hole, the cylinder is pitch black and makes me think its ran rich its entire life.

Re: X7 running rough

I would buy a new plug, probably fouled, they foul very easy, especially when the're run rich. Your plug tip should be tannish brown. Dark is too rich & grey is to lean. I would think about a new coil also there around $12 or less online. You can run a Diamond Fire E3-12 triple tip plug also. NGK is the most used plug.
Clockwise on the side screw is leaner, not sure about the top screw. I put on a 16mm pumper carb, ( Walbro WT-603 clone ), cause the low and high screws are on the side of the carb. Also the 16mm Walbro WT-813 is the perfect piston port carb, it has a accel pump jet that squirts fuel in the bore when you open up the throttle.

Most likely was run rich as most go by the 20:1 mixture it says on the fuel cap...These engines can be run as high as 50:1 mix. They like to be run on fuels that range from 91-93 octane levels.Non-ethanol fuels are highly preferred.

Id remove the exhaust pipe and put the piston at TDC then decarbonize the pistontop with brakeparts cleaner then squirt in some silicone spray to lubricate the cylinder and rings...

Another way to clean the pistontop is replacing 1oz of 2 stroke oil for 1 ounce of Dexron/MerconIII transmission fluid...Trans fluid is a high pressure lube,,burns clean and is also a detergent that cleans the piston top aswell as the inside of the carb,,,,,

This is how my pistons look after theyre worn out.....LOL
