Polini crank seals

So got a leak on one of my crank seals. Just wondering is it possible to replace with just rubber type ones similar to bzm rather than the polini ones which have metal casing?. Just thinking when I have to do these again I can prob do it in situe without splitting the casings.

Yes, you can take the normal oilseal. But Polini has other measures than BZM.
You can also demount the metaloilseal from outside. Take a small drillbit 1,5 or 2mm, make a hole in the oilseal, then take a small screw turne it in and pull the oilseal out with a pliers.

Get your kick with 2 stroke mix

I did try that bit it wouldn't budge! The seals are 22mm od x 15mm id by 5mm thick. I can buy nitrile ones online or a couple of quid each but just wanted to check. What is the purpose of the metal casing on the polini seals? Seems like an obvious place for a leak, metal against metal....

Re: Polini crank seals

My BZM and Polini have rubber on metal Euro crank seals, never seen metal to metal. I use a small screwdriver and or drill and rip them out, not sure what yours look like.

Its Polinis ways of doing things,,,Theres a higher chance of failure in the installation with a rubber on metal install than press-fitting the seal metal on metal..

Also an all rubber design just adds unwanted movement of the crankseals..

To me its better to have an all rubber design....

Try this place for an all rubber seal.....
