97cc dirt bug - goes with no throttle applied

Got my boys a dirt bug. As soon as it starts it goes, so you have to hold the brake. I thought it was the clutch; put a brand new one on and still does the same thing. Thoughts? Suggestions? Any help much appreciated as this is our first dirt bug.

Have you tried lowering the idle screw or properly adjusting the throttle cable?

They're not exactly built to be ridden right out of the box...It needs to be gone over and properly adjusted, aired-up and lubed..It's reflected upon how to accomplish these tasks in the manual provided with the dirtbug.....

You're even supposed to put real 30wt oil in the crankcase and get rid of the mineral oil..

Sometimes the engines get built wrong by being built with either a missing carb gasket or one that's installed backwards....

Since the clutch is good, sound like it is and intake gasket leak behind the carb, so it sucks air behind the carb which draws gas up the main jet tube into the engine and it want to go, and is probably making the clutch pads drag.

Try setting your idle screw and cable length before you do anything else. If the engines RPM at idle is to high the clutch will engage with the clutch bell.
