Re: X2 cvt rear shaft spline stripped

No replacement parts known for the CVT. I just sold a new CVT for $80 earlier this year. Good luck finding a new one. I would look for a parts bike.

Lots of sellers that got flack over selling pb parts simply disassembled the cvt transmissions so parts may still be available..

If it was me I would just weld the sprocket to the shaft and call it a day...

Re: X2 cvt rear shaft spline stripped

Might try eBay, X2 pocket bike CVT transmission. There was a seller there that had CVTs but the ad says $1099.00, which I believe is a miss print, think they want $99. If you find them, contact the seller and ask them.
There are sprockets 11 to 17 teeth in #25 and T8F 8mm chain. You need to figure your final drive ratio, to know how many teeth to get. The closer the numbers of teeth offset the more top speed, the farther apart more low end, its up to you. Think you have T8F 8mm chain. Divide the front gear teeth into the rear number of teeth. A 11/33 tooth would be 3 to 1 plus the 5 to 1 of the CVT trans, gives you 8 to 1 final, that would be a high speed ratio. Also remember your engine turns backwards as mounted and the CVT reverses direction so your rear wheel turns forward. Also some early bikes had #410 chain.
I found CVTs on eBay, same sellers I talked about, $1,099.99 free shipping. I sent them an e-mail and offered them $99.99 for one, and told them no ones going to pay that much for an $80 transmission, so we will wait and see what they say.

Youd be better off building the shaft end back up with a tigwelder , cut it round and to size on a lathe and recut the splines with a dremel

At this point in time you have a better chance at finding another bike for parts or winning the lottery before finding that shaft...............

Good Luck with the search........

The X2,X3,X6 and X8 CVT transmissions are larger and wider than the X1 transmission and the motor mounts are welded-in differently between the models too......

The engine mount will need to be removed with a grinder by grinding away the welds and one for an X1 welded-in in the correct place...…..

Re: X2 cvt rear shaft spline stripped

Since the drive chain is on the right, the engine turns backwards, and only transmissions that change direction will work. X1 which needs mods to the frame to work. Might make a 5 to 1 trans like on a scooter to work.

im just going off picture reference of where the clutch bell and the sprocket end up to keep the chain line but if it spins the wrong way its not going to work i have never had a CVT so i dont know EPR has had one so from what he is saying it spins the wrong way i have both the X7 transmishon and the scooter transmishon i will look at them today but i think the scooter transmishon sticks out way to far to make the chain line work and it allso looks like the TM04 transmission has gone extinct as well 😞

The closest thing he can use is a TF-8mm pinion and clutch housing from a cag then relocate the engine if needed or flip the engine around 180* and use the 7:1 non reversing transmission also flip the swingarm with the rearwheel and reweld the shock mount or try flipping just the the rear wheel then finding a 68tth TF-8mm rear sprocket…......…..

I opt for taking the shaft to the machine shop and have it resplined………..

Either way its gonna be quite a journey...…….

These are the differences in the frames and their engine mounts....

These 2 top pics are of the X2 frame …….

This picture is the X1 frame...…...

X1 transmission...…….

When I narrow the rearends on some of my
hotrod builds to fit meatier tires it usuaiiy costs me around $150.00 to cut and respline both rearend axles...

A lil shaft like that would probably be $75.00.Last time a member bought one it was $55.00....

I do have another option....Find fancy scooters on eBay and contact them to see if they know where to get a new transmission or the shaft.....

Good luck

in my research to try and find parts it looks like the bike engine guys have cleared out our stock of CVTs (they where kind of rare to start with) and the TM04 X1 transmishons as well 😞
