Windows 7...

Anyone else running windows 7? I made the switch and am delighted, It's install process was a little slow but simple and sweet, Compared to Windows Vista, Windows 7 is Fast Fast FAST, boot time is low, opening apps is amazingly fast, Didn't get a chance to test any games yet, but my 3d stuff runs faster than it did on vista.

So here is the cool part, If you sign up for Windows Live (It's free), You can get a FREE copy of Windows 7 that will work for a full year until the final release is out.

So far the only hitch I've had is with ZoneAlarm firewall, but a switch to Comodo firewall solved everything.

So, I'm wondering how long it will take before we start seeing users other than myself making the switch.

Have fun!

Nick.

Re: Windows 7...

I like the idea but Windows 7 is only for a year. Then I will have to pay like who knows what for the fee. So thats probably the catch.

Re: Windows 7...

When the time comes I'll buy a student copy for around $100... All I can say is so far it's been really good, which is odd for a RC1... If you used it for a year I doubt you would want to go back to vista or xp, I feel bad for people who got stuck with vista...

Some say that if you run one of Bill Gates' Cds backwards, it speaks the words of the Devil.

That's nothing.

If you run it forwards, it installs Vista.

Re: Windows 7...

whew, rough couple days for windows 7, looks like there might have been some security issues, building up for a little while, Microsoft rolled out SP1 for windows 7 over the last week or two, I had so many people call me up, NICK, my computer is dying, the first two times got me worried, but when my machine started updating and re-booting I saw what was going on, ahahahah, at least after that I could fix it over the phone, "It's OK, let it freak out and reboot 10 times, on it's own!" a heads up on when roll-outs are coming would be nice.

hmmm, most of these systems we're only a moth or so old, + my rig had to be re-imaged, so you are probably right, the Install's just didn't go so "smooth" or un-noticed this time around...

Re: Windows 7...

So, The roll-outs, apple has been purposely allowing joint projects to be compromised, hmmm, I have logs + screen caps from two or three weeks ago, I knew those ip addys looked like some I had seen on a "Shady" forum!

Fox news "Broke" a small portion of the story this morning.

If you have Comodo internet security, Especially IF I RECOMMENDED it to you, Delete it right now, go get norton! Comodo was in on it too! Firewall my Butt!

And no, I value my life, burned the files (logs etc) to dvd and have them hidden away <---NOT OPEN SOURCE SORRY!!!!!!

Well nortons is just as bad. they purposely send viruses to your computer just to test their security. i had nortons for the longest time. JUNK JUNK JUNK!!!! If i were to suggest a anti virus program, go with avast. Its freeeeeeee. And does everything any other av does and more.

Free shoes usually aren't as good as Nike's

btw, I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Since 1999 hahah...

Everything is a virus, virus detection works just like facial recognition, the best "database" will stop the most virus's!

Norton is pulling in just a bit more $$$ <---Chicken Sandwiches than Avast!

But free stuff is good for some things too!

Re: Windows 7...

i like microsoft security essentials a lot. i install it on all computer in the house including siblings' laptops. we never get viruses with it, maybe because we are smart when using the internet, who knows.

it doesn't lag up ur computer if u have a slow computer and it doesn't have annoying reminders that pop up at the bottom right like every few days
