But....there is one thing you need to know. They are only street legal if your pocket bike is 49cc or under. They are concidered moped vehicles. If it is 49cc or under, you do not need to get it registered and all that. Papers and documents will come with your bike to show the cops that you are able to ride them. If it is above 49cc, you will have to get a lisense, registered, and insured. If you want to ride on a major rode, you will need to get what i said above. If you need anymore questions ask me because i know almost everything about pocket bikes.
Obviously, you DON'T "know almost everything about pocket bikes." The bikes are a) too small to be easily seen by drivers of cars, trucks, and other vehicles, b) generally have NO headlights / turn signals / brake lights whatsoever (I realize there are models that do have lights, yes, but the small size of the bikes still makes them invalid for street use), and c) if you get caught riding, you could be facing a large fine and/or the very real possibility of having your pocketbike seized / impounded / CRUSHED.

SpyGuy, glad to see your back. Yeah, these bikes and cars don't match very well against each other. With you on the bike, it's very top heavy, and will try to high side you.

Re: Pocket Bikes: Street Legal Or Not?

just got back from court. my $325 riding without a license ticket was withdrawn... although that is mostly due to me looking young and innocent, but i'll take it. sadly though it's probably the end of pocket bikes for me. it's sad. if only there were places to legally ride...

Re: Pocket Bikes: Street Legal Or Not?

Worcester Mass,i have been riding my mini chopper on the streets for about
10 years now,get pulled over a few times each year.Never got a ticket.
The mini choppers seem to fit the definition of a moped yet most cops do not seem to know this until they read the registration.I get [Moped Sticker]$40.00 every 2 years.Just picked 2 more choppers off creigs list already bought [Moped Stickers]for them. One is a clutched 4 speed[worried about that] though i will ride it anyhoo.
The 1st picture[the black bike][4 speed semi auto] is the one i have been riding for the past 10 years. The 2 other bikes are my new ones.
Orange one is [clutched 4 speed]Blue one [4 speed semi auto.]
All 48/49 cc.Dressing them up a bit this winter.

Pretty sure that bike is legal if you stay around 30 MPH.

should be, does 49km/h (30mph) as is and thats just enough to keep up with almost all traffic here, better than the ebikes that are limited to 32km/h. i'd do whatever it takes to make it legal but no, not in Ontario. it cant be legal if you aren't paying the government... but hopefully i can get some decent money for the x6 and the motorized bike, i feel like it'll take a long time to move the chopper and at least make my money back, might actually finish it before she goes lol

Garage
X18 X19 X22s are basicly street legal but it's getting harder and harder to get a plate for them other wise there is the Honda Grome Kawasaki Z125 a genuwin Scooter/Moped there are some oldschool honda stuff that is street legal as well like the CT70, NSR (i think) the YSR50s motorized bicycles under 20 MPH and E Scooters/bikes under 750watts

as far as pocket bikes the simple answer is no defentley not street legal they are all to small to loude no lights lack of D0T aproved tires and parts on top of all police knowing what they are and if they see it they are going to impound it

even if your legally ridding it in a parking lot with permission they will still try to take it so be ready for a argument and know your laws and rights having your attorneys business card on you helps as well...
