Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike. Runs well. Recently had the starter rebuilt with a new pully/ratcheting arm thingy. The fuel line leaks a little. The air filter needs to be replaced because it has deteriorated a little. Also, I replaced the stock kill switch with a toggle (as seen in the pictures). The front lower fairing has a crack in it as well. This is definitely a project and would need work to be used regularly. I've had fun cruising it around the block, but it doesn't stock very well. Brake probably just need to be adjusted. This is about as honest a description as you could get. Could probably use some new tires as well obviously, since it's been sitting for so long.

I'm asking $200 obo. I'm located in West Sacramento, CA and require buyer to pick it up. I'm not sure how I'd go about shipping this and it would would probably cost a small fortune.

I really have no clue what these are worth in this condition, so shoot me a fair offer.

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

Would you be interested in selling the front fairing separately at all (I'd give you a good price for it)?

I'm about to start restoring one here in the UK and mine is missing.
Thanks
Tony

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

No problem stealthc9 - I've had a response from Gabriel at Minimotomadness regarding a new one, so fingers crossed I will be sorted soon

Totally agree with what you said about these being 'the original' pocketbikes. I've got loads of modern Euro ones but just had to scoop up the Dandy when I spotted it on Ebay. Without these bikes our modern ones wouldn't exist - gotta preserve the history

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

Any idea how I would ship this? I imagine it'd probably cost a TON.

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

About $50 to ship it, take the front wheel off and get it into a small box.

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

Someone gave me a pocket bike recently and I think it will work but can't find any information about Roland RP-40 Engines. It is missing the part of the pull starter that engages the flywheel when pulled. Does anyone know if there is anyone that sells parts for a Roland? Please help!!!

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

I would like to post a picture but can't figure out how to do that. I tried to drag and drop and all it did was put the file name and where it is in my computer.

You need 3 posts and photos have to be 512Kb., 1/2 Meg. or less 90Kb. for avatar photo. That bike & engine is made in Japan.

I did find someone that has parts. Gabriel at Mini Moto. He said I have the RX-40. Should be a great little bike when I get it running.

Re: Dandy RP-40 Pocket Bike

Great find, much better quality than a China bike, and I love the gas tank in the rear. Have you done a compression test?? If you can, that is the first thing I would do. My 50cc C1 Blata clone water cooled bike was leaking tiny bits of water into the cyld from the base gasket, the head Viton O rings were in good shape, almost new, I had 78lbs, it would pop once in awhile.
That should have around 120lbs at least I would guess. If you haven't done so already, see if you get a spark to the plug. I would still pull the coil, & sand under the arms and the magnets in the flywheel clean. With a spark you put gas down the carb, and see if you get a pop or it starts for a second or 2.
I learned something new today, I bought 3 of them chain roller arms for $8 each, same as your bike has, did not know what bike the fit on till I saw your photos, I am going to make them fit a few off my faster bikes that like the stretch chains, lol.
