2S and cornering ???'s. . .

New clutch is in the Phantom. I'm a tub o fun at 215lbs so the clutch is set to hit at about 10K rpm.

I've got basically the best bike money can buy, now I just gotta get it figured out.

With me feet way up on the pegs and cornering I feel the front tire getting loose on me; pushing to the outside. A couple times its tried to bite me, but my inside foot saved the day.

I moved the bars down about 1/2" thinking/hoping this will help to transfer more weight to the front tire. As of now I feel like I'm too far back. Dunno.

Just curious what you all think. It's not fear that's making me back off, it's just a setup issue.

Last, on hairpin corners with the clutch still engaged are you guys really able to turn that sharp/fast to keep the clutch locked up the whole time? I've already gotten this clutch hot enough to smell it/see smoke. I have to think its because I have too little entry speed/engine speed and when coming out of the corner it causes the clutch to slip like crazy and get overheated. Granted, I'm just rodding around in my parking lot which doesn't have a lot of room, so maybe it's just that.

Thoughts encouraged.

It sounds like you got a combo of too much stall speed set on the clutch and just a bit too heavy...get down to 200 and set the clutch lower and youll get better control in the hairpin turns............Getting the holeshot is nice but without control its useless for the race............... you could also try using different sized diameter tires and mix them up for proper handling.....Good Luck

So back off the springs? Meaning it'll come in at a lower rpm?

I'll try that. Maybe I'll try adding the weights to the pads too so that it bites harder/sooner.

Thx.

Re: 2S and cornering ???'s. . .

try it around 8k RPMs, also, keep your weight as close to the gas tank as possible, I'm sure you know this but the idea is to center your weight as much as possible to give the front tire the traction it needs in those tight turns. Once you have a good idea where and how to sit to get the most out of the bike in turns, adjust your pegs to make that position comfortable.

still waiting on those videos LOL, we want to see that monster run!

Cheers

absolutely...On my HPI I use 8k springs for aggressive driving and back down to a 6k spring for tight twisty tracks.....You got 20 hp on tap so power shouldnt be an issue....Like MQ said riding positioning is key aswell as tire pressures...give it time and some changes and eventually youll get dialed-in...once you do keep a journal for the changes made for referrence because there will be room for improvement...A nice rpm gauge is a key tool and if you have one already...Kudos..
