Beth and I have been talking with Tod and based upon the interest shown recently, we're interested in seeing some sort of Georgia series. It looks like we have possibilities to race not only in the parking lots but a couple of tracks in the area.
Jose (Phantom) from pocketbikeplanet is already working on a Dublin, GA race on Feb 15, I've spoken before with the gentleman from Barnesville, Wayne mentioned the Rider';s Edge course at either Thornton Road or Newnan, and Tod's mentioned another kart track in Alabama. I've probably missed one somewhere. Beth's begun to work on a schedule and Tod and I spent some time on the phone today talking class structures, etc.
So the first question is, who's in? I can have a website up and running within a day once we decide to go forward, but I think we need to have some sort of meeting to get something finalized.
Second, how many classes do we run and under what rules? USMGP rules are easily followed and they seem to be a good start, but we certainly don't have enough bikes right now to run full races. Tod's suggested 3 classes, a 2.5 class, a production class (air or water cooled 6.2) and open. We're aware though that many of the local cags might not fit the rulebook exactly, but there seems to need to be some sort of starting place.
Another idea is that we could have all the classes but require a minimum of 3 bikes to make a race, otherwise those bikes would race up to the next class.
Third, how many races? Tod and Beth talked about every 3 weeks, and while I'll do anything, my initial idea was once a month. We'd award some sort of points based upon results and have a "championship" at the end of the season.
Fourth, do we have some sort of set crew to plan each race, or should people volunteer to handle each race as overseen by a small group who will insure continuity and abidance with the rules?
So when and where do you guys wanna meet?
