That's what I did, hacksaw, I believe 5 fins down, then break off the 6 fins, that gives you space to form the ring for the Cag head. I used a new grinding wheel on my 8" bench grinder to rough form the compression ring on top the cyld, then Dremel, files, sandpaper etc. I have a small surface plane and sandpaper, you can use glass and lay it flat. The top of the ring has to be flat to seal the round copper head gasket. Here is a Cag cut cyld from Sam, Boosted306.
