Picked up what im hoping was a nice deal today.

What i ended up getting

1 mid bike (unidenitifed, any ideas?) non running condiition
1 cag running condition (no rear tire lol) (gonna make a motorized bicycle or trike with it)
2 performance bores and piston (unknown size)
1 stock bore and piston
1 expansion chamber exhast(Silencer broken)
3 coils
2 pull starts
2 shocks
2 gears (69 and 61)
1 stock carb
1Black clutch bell (perhaps better then stock?)
misc nuts and bolts

I've got a lot of work ahead of me :O

btw bike in the background is a 90cc 2stroke jog clone custom honda ruckus scooter project im working on.

Nice score...You have an MT-A2 cag and a 49cc cateye..........I had that same cag frame..it didnt feel too sfe so i remodeled it a bit ........have fun with the builds,,,,,,,

Nice score. Your have a 43cc and 49cc Cag head kit. Raise and widen the exh port on the inside and leave the base gasket out and use Yamabond, it will raise your compression a whole lot. For $30 shipped your can get a full circle racing crank in 10 or 12mm to fit your piston pin.
Hmm looks like i might have a partially siezed bore. God i hate piston port engines >.>
edit:
Nope not seized. Something grabbing the fly wheel or crank though. Gonna do a full cleaning and reassembly of it as well as remove the electric start. Should i file the port edges smooth? Noticed they were a bit grabby.

Nice, I'm don't really have any experience with porting so ill have to find a tutorial or something. Any idea on what kind of boost in performance I'm looking with the 49cc head kit?

The perf you get depends on where the cylinder was made and the finished squish and compression ratio...........The one 3 port cylinder you showed has wider transfer ports than the other...the wider one is the one to start out with...

You can do basic porting and still get great results...Theres a basic rule to the basic mods and if carried out to the TEE can yield great power aswell as put a smile on the face almost every ride..........

Ive modded my fair share of both engines and ill say with a solid gameplan theyre not very hard to make triple the stock power out of them the least.......

Well! what is it?
Question for cam or epr, have you ever retrofitted one of these with a cag engine? Just wondering how you could accommodate for the fact the gears on the right side.

The carb throttle mech is broken on the piston port, i have another pumper carb at my parents place but i dont go back till the 6th and i was hoping to have it running before then.

And i kinda wanna install the big bore and run that puppy.
If you run a 5 to1 reverse reduction transmission, and run the engine backwards, like the twin engine bike I am building.
The Cag engine is no better than a piston port, and it's alot of work, would have to cut off the Zenoah engine mount and weld a Cag eng. mount, weld a bracket for a brake caliper on the otherside.

Something like this idea I first had for my stand-up scooter..?

Cateyes have a 2pc engine mount thats bolted to the frame plate...thats how you adjust the tension in the front chain for the jackshaft and the engine.............
No clue where to get a 5:1 reverse reduction box...

Probably going to end up waiting till i get the other carb from my place.

The crank in this engine is covered in yellow gunked up gasoline whats best to clean it out with? Gas or kerosene?

You have a 5:1 reverse reduction box already on your Cateye...........Flipm the cag engine backwards,,bolt it up to the trans,,Bolt it down straight,,hook it up and give it a whirl.........

I use Carb cleaner,,brakeparts cleaner to clean my engine internals aswell as myparts washer with safety kleen solution in it........
I was looking at it but will it bolt up? It didnt look like it would but then again i am tired as hell atm.

All the engine flanges at the bell housings are the same size and the bellhousings are interchangeable........Ive run so many versions and combos I dont even know where to start to show that even though tehyre two diff engines theyre quite the same in certain ways..............

Here is a 49cc X1 engine with a Cag 3 shoe clutch......

Cag with X1 49cc engine,,Cag hp 7 tooth clutch,,Cag 3 shoe clutch ......

Piston ported engine with Cag full circle crank.........

Just try and figure this one out........LOL..hint...its a hybrid..

Well then! I think im going to do a cag engine conversion now. Side exhaust too :)

side note with that big bore, if i need to upjet anyone know the stock jet size so i can hit the hobby store and get some drill bits?
I Love that engine, did you notice the cylinder is cut off and is a piston port and the head is a Cag and it has 2 carbs and 4 reeds in each box.
So i decided to clean up the cag engine and get the new bore installed. Found a broken petcock mount (luckily i got a brand new carb) and then i managed to break a piston ring well putting them on...

Hopefully the small engine repair shop has piston rings the right size...

also what side does the arrow point to again?

The arrow points towards the exhaust port on reeded engines............

On piston ported the arrow points towards the intake because the head has a bit more meat where the rings ride up n down on the intake side.

Cam2, your amazing, lol, I could never figure out why it had to go that way when there is no hole in the piston. With the 5 to 1 trans the gear is way out and It was to much trouble for me to split the feame to make it fit, so looking for a new plan. The CVT trans with a belt would be a better choice, cause the gear is on the inside, and it changes the gear ratio as the engine speed increases. A few months ago on eBay motors saw a CVT new one for $50.
