so... i got my x18 a few weeks ago, thought it would be fun to have sort of a build thread.....how i got it....

started off with the bare essentials...cable for clutch, brakes for the front, tire for the rear, seat pan, and new tank cover.....looked like this...

then i got fed up with the cable sticking for the clutch, even after lubing it so i got a hydro clutch...that was fun...came not working, took 3 hrs of bleeding to get it working...love it though...you can also see the headlight o mounted off the factory horn mount...just a 55w h3 halogen fog light but does the job quite nicely...

got a race cam to put in it..lots more lift than stock...LOL

also got a mikuni vm22, but found i needed a swivel mount for it, since it didnt clear the head on the intake i have...swivel mount showed up today, going on after work tomorrow...big freakin carb compared to stock...LOL

and, for a treat, a shot next to a few of my other projects...LOL on the left we have my 75cc honda 5 spd powered gocart, and on the right, the engine i am building for major boost for my truck....and the slicks for the truck for the track..LOL

more pics to come when i get stuff in, got a new exhaust coming in thats a side mount instead of under the seat, as well as another set of brake pads front and back (stopping with my fat 255#can on the seat is kinda hard on the pads...LOL)and a front tire to match the new rear...

ya first time i saw the mikuni was like oh crap is this gonna fit, then the vm26 was even bigger, then i got a 28mm flat and it was even bigger
wait till you see the diference in the motor sizes, the 160 is so fat and wide
man whoever had that before really screwed the paint up, please tell me your gonna fix the front
it should run good after you put the pipe on, that cam a tb300? it goes wump wump wump wump, but like i said dont go wot or you willfloat the valves and they will hit the piston

hit a "small snag" today.....after getting the carb all figured out and tuned for starters, i took it on a shakedown run and dang can this thing spin now....added 4 mph just with the carb, for a 56mph run, then right after that i was screwin around doin wheelies...bad idea with the new found power.... clutch litterally blew up on me...

wow, thats sick! was it loud?
when my 114 kit blew it was loud
What i first heard i feared the worst.... It sounded like that unmistakeable stuck/bent valve sound.....then went to the box of rocks in the crank case sound, then mor rocks, cleared up for a sec, and then got real bad again....lol thats when the springs started going.....
Ride it till it will go no more, thats my philosophy... besides rebuilding is half the fun. Incoming replacement clutch!

Haha i live by the saying "if it aint broke, fix it til it is" aka if its running keep adding power til something breaks.....

end of this session a tappet nut comes off and holds the ex valve open and the intake hit it and bent it
3.5 hours drive to blow the motor in 20 min

exhaust came today... going to try installing it this afternoon.... very nice quality, hope it will fit without too much modification...even came with a bracket kit which surprised me....

What does the inside of the flange look like? Can you get a pic?

The pipe i got was really nice, but it still had a big ugly weld inside the flange that i had to grind down.

Sorry i missed the post before i left, but there is no goopy weld in there...LOL the way they made the flange, the weld is post flange. if oyu look close at the pic, you can see right after the flange is the weld...and its smooth as a babies butt in there.....few more pics and vid in a few min...
new pipe fits....BARELY....LOL

the top spring retainer is up against the foot peg, and i am not sure that the rear brakes will work as is right now...may need to rework that...LOL but i like the look of ot for sure....
