Hey guys Im wondering if there is a cylinder or crank that will fit the series to polini cases that will net over 50ccs. Maybe from a moped or large scooter.
I dont ride Mini moto so I dont race or have track rules I have to worry bout. My polini is on a goped well will be on one
I was thinking of buying a cylinder that is gone and needs to be replated stick it on my lathe bore it out / machine matching piston and have it sent to be replate . USchrome is 15 mins from me.
I just seeing what options there are for future builds.

All the China cylinders are cast crappy alum so the cylinder has a hard thin plating for the ring to run on. If you bore it out you would have to replate the cylinder walls. Chrome would be nice, just figure how thick the plating is and over bore it, plate it, get a Wiseco piston & chrome rings. That might work. There are one ring Husqvarna 10mm pin pistons in 40mm, 44mm, and bigger. I am modding a 40mm Husq. piston for my 40mm ADA racing Cag B/B kit. Also a 44mm Husq. in a billet alum case Cag engine made in Germany, it's on it's way as I type this.

1. Polini had only produced in A/C cyl. up to 40cc

2. with your case its possible but you have to weld up ( butter) some material on; then worked it out and so on. Some guys have made this also, in furhter times. Its possible ...

3. I have also billet case , extra for sooter cyl. to mount, is the same as the billet house 1 ( look into the sale thread ) , only with the sizes especially to mount scoot cyl and the inner sizes are a little larger ; for another compatible crank.

( also install a 70cc scoot cyl. l/c + waterpump, etc. also possible)

this case is compatible with all brands and import scoot cy. / re mounting holes !!!

4 its also possible with the polini crank and your other components , with a little fitting perhaps ... but this has a little to less stroke for the 70cc with its 39,2 mm ... better than a 39,7 or 39,8mm ( it's all in stock !!)

5. I have it also as a complete engine, with a 70 cc a/c cylinder complete ( starter, clutch etc..) .

By interest send me a PM, you'll get pics .

Regards

Polini cyl .. in the moment I don't know what you mean ? ... which Polini cyl. ?

I wrote about the compatibility, was is possible and the alternate(s), not especially about poini cyl.

But asked a little bit more precise, that I know what you exactly want to know , is no problem :D

What I want to know are the Euro cylinders just bored out or do they hard plate the insides like the China ones?? I only have a 40cc Polini China copy engine.

Thanks for the replys guys.
CAM2 I dont own a pocket bike, I ride standup scooters. ;)
Im not looking to buy billet cases .I sure as heck dont want anything to do with cag motors. I dont like them at all.
Im all set with buying a piston If you seen my machine shop I think your jaw would drop. I could design a 6061 billet replica of a polini piston but X amount of MMs larger . I was just wondering if any of you have moded larger scooter cylinders to fit on the polini series two cases.

Then dude that Polini scooter engine w/CVT trans is right up your alley with this frame............http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4oDUtTD1A0..........The engine and drive are one so alls you need to build is a platform and the frontend.......Youll be going close to 100mph with the right gearing and that 70cc kit..............

As far as modding a Polini case yet I have not but have been looking into making a 80cc engine using a polini aircooled bottomend and a Minarelli jog 80cc topend kit or PW80 topend...The only thing needed to do is make a spacer plate to go between the engine case and cylinder base aswell as make a custom stroke crank by modding a BZM stroker with a different rod to make the timing work.........

Having a machine shop is nice but if you can feel the sick power I put into engines working out of a 15x11 hobby room and backyard with minimal tools youd feel like you should be building turbine powered race cars........LOL

This is the engine and trans setup I have now on a homemade scooter I have maybe $150 bux total into that goes 56mph with a modded 49cc engine................It runs nice n strong...........

It has to have a 78 or 80mm clutch thats why I was going to use the series two cases. With a pull start .
When I say Im looking at larger moped scooter cylinders Im looking for a polini cylinder to match not a knock off from china.
Cam2 I have plenty of engines that will take me to 50+ very quickly but im always looking to get there faster.
Here some pics of my build Im finishing up . All the brake hubs and brake caliper mounts were machined by me . Whole motor has been gone through and ported for a cylinder reed.
Im getting ready to start my WC polini build next.

Cam2,
Dont get me wrong a man could go along way with minimal tool or no where fast if he dosent know what he is doing with all of it. I still do great work with a portable band saw, grinder, cut off tool and dremel.
I was buying all these high dollar items off the net 200$ for 5$ piece of 6061 . I woke up and said I could buy the tool to make that .I purchased my first mill at the age 0f 27 Im 30 now.
Im not a master machinist by any means but my tools have payed for them self just by the stuff they have built me not including what I have built for others. Im not a wealthy man by any means but one thing I love more than my hobby of building small motors for scooters is tools.
My name is Mark and Im a toolaholic!

Awesome............My dad owned a machine shop for over 35 years...I was able to reap the benefits starting from a young age.

The reason why I made the joke/comment was because there is this guy my friend knows who builds sick custom bikes n such who has a full blown older OCC type machine shop...He made that exact comment about him needing to be building rocket cars when he saw some of my builds....He wasnt impressed by chinese weedeater engines either like you but couldnt beleive all the bikes,,scooters,,trikes and 1/4 scale r/c vehicle Ive built in my basement and backyard in the past few years with the limited tools and crappy welder I have..........I told him thats what makes a hobby a hobby and a business nothing but headaches and work...........LOL

As long as youre having fun Its all good and what fun to some is all about...Im hoping to see something sweet come from your project.......Keep us posted....
