Is there any way to check if your battery is good or bad without buying the charger?
i heard it was possible to make a charger too, is that right?
none of my electronics work.
Harbor freight has float chargers for like 10 bucks.. Take it out and bring it to an battery place or shop, Most places will have a load tester that they can hook up an tell you in a few seconds.. Of course it needs to have some juice in it.. If it holds no power its obviously dead..
Autozone will charge it free, because to run the tests they do it needs to be fully charged.... And just a voltmeter wont show a bad battery... I just replaced a week old battery. VM Showed 12.5v but it wouldnt turn over the engine.... Turns out it was only putting out 3 amps....
It sure will, just need to put a load on it while metering it.. It might show over 12 but when you click over the starter(or put a load) it shows Much lower and or jumps around.. The battery is done if you have been charging it for hours...
well i guess one of my batteries is trash and the other still had sparks when you touch + - together .so that one is currently charging right now. they said come pick it up in a hour.
well i just installed the battery and the lights work and everything except the signals and the electric start. the electric start makes noise and when i turned the key off the noise still went on ?
Bypass all the solinod by unhooking the starter wire. Take the battery and two wires. Negative to the engine case and the positive to the starter prong.. See if it tunrs over. The battery still have juice? Did they say its a good battery?? Or just ?parking when you touch wires"?
There is a wire coming off the starter on the front side right behind the pull start.. You need to take off the plastics to see it. Take the wire off, then take the battery with two wires connected, one to positive and one to negative. Negative to the engine case and the positive to the starter prong..
If it turns the stater is good, if nothing happens, its bad....
Thanks ima try it in 10 min!
I got both my cateyes to work now!
i add oil to the pistons to oil it up and it ran good! and i gapped the spark plug to 0.30
and add oil to the gas tank .the ratio is 40:1
thanks for all the tips!
i want to drill holes on the clutch ? what do you think? and lighten the flywheel?
it can be done.... cut half the fins off the flywheel, then polish whats left off with dremel tool. you can drill one or two holes in each clutch shoe, but this increases the chance of a broken shoe, thus you will need like 3-4 of them on hand at all times, since you have 2 of these bikes.... there are tutorials in the A/C how to's to do this...
A dremel tool is probably something you will want to look into... it will allow you to do alot of cutting, deburring, sanding, grinding and polishing fast and effectively. you can probably get a good kit for around 100 bucks, with plenty of attachments.
Definitely a cool tool to have... Once you have it you cant stop looking for jobs you can use it on.
