Bike Keeps cutting off

1013 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  RepoBike
Today I rode my bike around the circus tent. I went from one side of the tent to the other. Every once in a while my bike would shut off. Then I would have to pull start it back. I was wondering how could I keep my bike running. Also if I like push the gas alll the way soon as I get on my bike it cuts off. When I had my x18 it did not do that. So I need help with this stuff as I am going to fix it up this winter. I am thinking it is the carb. Btw my bike is a Cat eye. Also it smokes alot when I take off at first and it is very loud. I want to cut this down. When I put fresh gas with some oil in it it was running a little better. Just give me all the stuff I should get below. So I can work on getting it and this winter I will do all the work.

Could be a few things... Almost sounds like and ignition problem and the coil is grounding out or cutting off?! Maybe unhook the ground to the coil and try a test run.. See if it cuts off.. Or the Carb... lol! Maybe clean it out or buy a new one.. That stock carb costs like 12 bucks on E-bay... The Walbro 803 that EPR always suggests might be a good first upgrade... just peek around the site all kinds of Mods for that engine... Same as the X1, X1, Zenoah..

The Smoke is good....... unless you are not mixing 2 stroke oil in the gas... Get 100% synthetic 2 stroke if you want less smoke... Those mufflers are ghetto if you want to quite it up you might have to get a HP muffler then make sure the packing is good or make a huge can with lots of muffler packing... lol

All i can really say for sure is the muffler on that thing is real bad...

Good luck!

Sounds like he maybe too rich on the LSN and too lean on the fuel rate adjustment screw..............Could also need a new sparkplug too...
I agree with cam,I think your running to lean.Especially since you said it does it will on full throttle
So can you tell me how to turn it down
Well start of with the easy one.the air /fuel needle.its usually goldish with a flat head groove on it.its on the side of the carburetor.turn it counter clockwise in intervals of 1/8.so turn the bike on and let it warm up.then turn the screw 1/8 and and take it for a spin.see what happens, if it cuts off then do it again until you get the bike running smooth. If not then move on to your low speed needle.remember where your needle setting was when you started just incase you can start over.
I never thought about the coil? Hmm.. Anyways, it does sound to me like carb issues. Instead of spending money to rebuild them or pulling your hair out to do it on ur own, I would pick up a new one online for $20.

Ok I did this... Now it is working but when I get to a corner and stop it will sometimes cut off. But like I can go full speed now. Also there is oil running out the exhaust. Another thing plastic thing over the carb that covers it is rattling. How do I stop this
Is your bike idling low?If so then Just turn your idle screw in 1/8 turn and it should raise your idle
How to tune your carb. This is the best video on tuning these carbs. Very easy to do.
