any 3/4 speed transmissions/reduction kits that are available for a cag motor? If so, how would I go about making it work, does it require a different clutch or modifications to the clutch housing?
So I would need to either switch the motor and sprocket over to the other side of the bike, or get a pocketdirtbike cvt... the mounting plate for the motor is made so I can adjust it left or right about 1 inch. would it need some forward or backwards adjustment for the CVT box? and what are the power gains in low mid and high end?You could use one from a miniharleybike or cateye....The pocketdirtbikes and some pocketquads come with a gear reduction box too
You could use a cag engine but you will have to turn the engine around like EPR has done to do his twin engine build.............unfortunately the trans gear boxes are 5:1 reduction though................The CVT and pocketdirtbike trans is 7:1 but the pocketdirtbike trans doesnt require nothing but shifting the engine over 1-2"

Youll only feel alot of quick acceleration aswell as a high torquey feel until you regear the rear sprocket because youll most likely have a topspeed of 20mph flat out because the pocketdirtbikes come with larger rims/tires...........The pocketdirtbike transmission isnt a true belt driven CVT trans........Its just a highly underdriven chainbox...My CVT on my homemade stand-up scooter variates from 7:1 underdriven to 4:1 underdriven...........So I would need to either switch the motor and sprocket over to the other side of the bike, or get a pocketdirtbike cvt... the mounting plate for the motor is made so I can adjust it left or right about 1 inch. would it need some forward or backwards adjustment for the CVT box? and what are the power gains in low mid and high end?
Yep that trans is the same as the pocketdirtbike and pocketquad reduction boxes aswell........Good info to add as usual Hugh:thumbsup:Also, easier reduction to use with the cag series would be the one off an X7. Its left hand drive

this is going on a pocket quad. Maybe a a 7 speed gear plateau, a bike derailer fitted on a custom bracket welded to the swingarm... that would be something to look at.Anyone with a lathe here? Drop your rim into it, remove the hub section. Bolt in a 5 speed bicycle hub. Use threaded tubing to reinforce the axle to dropout span. Etc.
Instant-ish 5 speed.
There are billet rims available that might make better starting points.
Just a thought
