Has anyone tried a 26-28mm carb on a 49cc 2-stroke... i know its sifnifigantly larger than a stocker... but my calculations lead me to believe the 21-22mm range is ideal for a stock size intake port... the style of carb i want to use for a methanol conversion comes commonly in the 26-28mm range...

Methanol gets set up 1.5 times that of gasoline....The specific gravity is between 14-15......Gas is 9 specific gravity......most 49cc engines come with a 15mm carb...15+7.5 is 22.5 so your calculations are correct but as far as the carb you intend to use... its too big.......

On my methanol hybrid engine w/twin carbs I have both carbs restricted to 12mm's each and theyre set up progressively and not 1:1. When I ran the engine 1:1 with the carbs and kept them 12mm and 15.7mm the engine was fogging out from being super overly rich and couldnt get a descent tune......

It was just a thought... was looking at the mikuni flat slides... i can convert the lifan style carb but dont know what type of quality they are...

Its a pretty good thought and doesnt hurt to ask especially if it can be answered but if you have the parts on hand already it doesnt hurt to experiment...:D.

Best carburetor in your situation.............Tillotson............They aint cheap but they deliver performance second to none.......








The Lifan carbs are Chinese brand..Ripoffs of a Keihin Jap brand....The only thing you need to do is get a Viton tipped needle and a brass float along with jets..........Itll work with the stock stuff for a lil while if you purge the engine and carb with regular premuim premix after every use...the methanol warps the float over time

Another note:........In case you didnt know...Methanol is highly poisonous..Prolonged contact with skin will cause dimentia like symptoms aswell as actually cause dimentia plus will also cause respitory problems inhaling burnt vapors so be weary and be careful.......If you do know...I apologize...

I have a blown and alcohol injected malibu... and about 11 yrs ago had a drag banshee on alcohol... i have converted banshee carbs to alcohol before... basically all that is really needed is to drill the main feed out larger for the needle and then add a powerjet between the bowl and intake... just finding a carburetor that im sure isnt junk first sounds to be a problem on the bikes by reading on here...lol
