Guys, one of my big priorities after I get my bike running is to try to make it quieter. I've read several threads about this, one of them was to stuff #3 grade steel wool and the other to add a spray can to the pipe. What has worked best for yall? Has anyone tried any other material besides steel wool? I found this while surfing the net. http://www.culimeta-saveguard.com/ac...il/default.htm

Get a fatty exhaust....Its alot quieter than the stock exhaust pipes that come on it............

If you want to mod the stock exhaust you need an expansion chamber and a way to convert it into a dual chamber exhaust system.............

My X1 was pretty modded but was alot quieter than stock with the fatty I installed on it......

Ok what's a good price range to spend on a good fatty exhaust? I was wondering how to mod the stock cuz it has dual exhaust so the spray can was out of the question.
Your enemy is the long 1" pipe length....it contains too much of the exhaust so it just explodes out of the tips........

same bike two different exhausts......

single chamber modded exhaust,,,stock J-pipe and revpipe expansion chamber with stinger tip...

same exhaust without stinger tip

Custom stock modded dual chamber exhaust with no stinger tip.......If I added a stinger it would almost be whisper quiet

Went to my local muffler shop with no luck. They wanted to install a heavy fat tube for $45 but the thing weight atleast 15-20 lbs so it's gonna slow down my bike so I said no. I need to figure something out to make this bike quiet lol.
