So ive been away for a while because it took ages for the machining buddy to build my custom clutchbase plate with a freewheel sprocket. But i finaly got the part and now im continiueing to finish what i have started!

The reason behind this idea began with looking how a cvt works and after a while i realized that the thing that i needed to make a clutch reliable high rpm/power deadstop starts while retaining a high speed gear ratio was not the cvtbox but a double clutch setup in a reduction gearbox.

I figured he gave up smoking clutches and went on to getting that ignition coil problem sorted out with his car so he can smoke some tires.........LOL

So i ordered a new shortblock, i do prefer complete overhaul and overbore of the current engine but the new short block that i found is way cheaper. I will keep the old engine stored for when i get some plans to do something fun with it.

About my car, i smoked a piston and a cyl head due blown headgasket.. i got that fixed and now the other 3 pistons are starting to let oil past the rings like crazy!

So i ordered a new shortblock, i do prefer complete overhaul and overbore of the current engine but the new short block that i found is way cheaper. I will keep the old engine stored for when i get some plans to do something fun with it.

Sounds and looks like you bowed the cylinders out of alignment causing the headgasket to lose its perfect plane and seal...

What kind of oil pressure did you have in that thing..?

I remember that i was driving top speed for a while @ full throttle and the oil temperature was 125°c ive had overheating issues for a long time but it never gave trouble when the oil goes above 125°c because i slow down until it reaches 105°c. When the first piston was replaced then the temperature problem was gone but the oil consumtion problem remained.

It was drinking 1liter 5w40 fully synthetic oil in 500km...

No they rotate both side, they should be good since they come from the same manufacturer as my lightweight hydro lifters in my car. The make is INA idk if you ever heard about it but i see the name coming up in vw car forums quite allot and on webshops for parts too

When I saw the bearings mounted halfway through the clutch and gear aswell as the shaft that appears to spin too I assumed they were OWB's..

I see theyre very good quality...They even use those bearings as wristpins for pistons in certain 2 stroke engines..

How are you going to keep them lubricated and dirt free?

When I build my boosted engines I hard anodize the ring grooves on the pistons...Its an added expense but hardcoating plays an important role in combating microwelding between the ring grooves and the piston rings...

Its a common practice in aircraft engines that has served me well with my engine builds especially the 5.3LS that in my Nova built with a 92mm turbo and 250 shot of laughing gas that runs 8.5 seconds in the quarter mile all day and even cruises on the street too and been running for the better half of going on 7 years now and still kicking.....

For the lubrication and dirt that is a good question, i guess i will just clean it with break cleaner and use pfte spray after the cleaning. I think (and i hope) there wont be to much dirt going in and on the bearing.
The most dirt that i think that would get in there theoreticly, is some dust from the clutch shoes.

Now the clutch shoe dust issue shouldnt be a big concerb since im planing to make this clutch grab at lower and way more reliable rpms.

Im just hoping that i can drive the bike hard for a while without things breaking down and i would not bother to replace the bearing after a while, as long as it does not break during lets say the first 10 hours of ripping the **** out of my dirtbike hehe

I guess time will tell how things will work out

Update!!

I got the custom made drive shaft yesterday!

I started with puzling the gearbox together and this is what it looks like so far.

(I need to trim of some milimeters from the clutchbell though)

And im thinking of putting a thrust bearing between the clutch-sprocket and the ridge that stops stuff from going where it should not go

My current daily driver is a Supercharged Range Rover Sport with a lil performance work done to it to make it a low 10's/high 9's AWD track machine.....Others are worktrucks that arent any slouches either......LOL

The engine is in a 72 Nova with stock a-arms and leafspring rear suspension.. Its more of a whenever you get the itch to feel the power cruiser but can be driven on the streets whenever/wherever aslong as you stay out of the boost but its really hard without seriously detuning it on the laptop...LOL

Right now im prepping a set of nice profiler heads for a sweet 108mm turbo build that will get into the 7's pretty easily....

I also have a split bumper 72 Camaro with E-85 tuned numbers matching Big Block Chevy huffing a lil laughing gas.....lol

I really hope the project turns out as expected...You need to catch a break and be able to really see what that engine you built is made of......

Id go back to without it as its not going to work as in theory...

When you sandwich one of those between two objects where one side spins and the other is stationary and pressure is exerted youll have two forces at work...One force will try to spin the bearings on their axis and another force is gonna try to spin them to the side..Only way to contnteract the action is by stacking two bearings with a thin shim in-between...

The side spin will prevail and when that happens one side of the bearing will experience the bearings spinning in an opposite way adding a stymie to the spinning action and damage to the bearing....

It would just be better trying out using some thinner teflon or low friction stainless shim washers and seeing how its gonna work first.....
