Hello All ANOTHER NEWBIE!

Hey Folks,
My name is Rick and I just picked up a project at a garage sale. Don't know a thing about these little monsters and have some basic questions. What is it, where can I get parts, etc. Have been reading around the site and you all seem very helpful so here goes....

As soon as I can post attachments I will upload photos. This thing will need new bodywork. a kid owned it and he USED IT. This is going to end up being a pit bike at the dragstrip and it ain't cool if your chrome don't shine so we need to spiff the girl up some. Maybe will off the lower fairing but need to buy / repair the tank cover and seatpan.
There is also some wiring issues that need working out but I am confident as the motor is free. Anyway, as soon as I can attach I will add the pics. Thanks all.

OH, and another thing. Did these come with documentation new? Owners manual or the like? Thanks
Hi rick, welcome to PBP! We will be glad to help you identify your bike, troubleshoot the problems it has and show you where to find the parts you will need along the way. You will be able to post photos on your 10th post.

Cheers.

Mathieu.

Edit: No owners manual on these, made in china, lol.

Any questions you have, dont be shy.
OK. I posted a pic in the gallery but It kept posting the same pic multiple times (3) so I need some editing help but a front view in there under my user name.
and thanks Mathieu for the quick reply. Glad to know somebody is out there.
YW Rick. I can see the pic but it's too small for me to see what kind of bike you have:rolleyes:. If you have a Photobucket that would help.
Is it a 4 stroke engine, does it have a rear shock??, looks like an early X bike, but the picture is real small.
I was waiting till I could get some pics up in the post to describe it but, Yes, it is a 4 stroke. Headlight, hi-beam, horn, turn signals and a gearbox. Nice little aluminum mags, and squirt brakes front and rear. The other pics, and the one I wanted to post, shows a side view and would be more definitive.

It's a shame spammers screw stuff up so normal people have to wait to post info.

I have another pic of the rats nest that is the wiring. If somebody had one down as far as this one and could post a pic of the wire routing so I could have a hint, that would be helpful.

I have also deduced I am missing the rear tank mount bracket that, I assume, also holds the starter solenoid, relay and the coil. I can fab a new one if I had a pic.
Thanks all for the help. One of the best parts of the internet right here.
Thanks again, Rick.
Rick,

Keep posting till you hit 10 posts. then you will be able to attach images.

Regards
Mathieu.

Looks like a 110cc 4 stroke X bike. Seems in decent shape, does it run?
As yet to be determined. Fuse holder is broken, nothing is grounded, battery is dead, fuel tank hose is short and pinched.
The motor is free but have to get the electrics worked out as that's the only way to start it. Unless I want to try and bump it off.

Is there anything posted about what an X BIKE is? I see there are up to 19 and was wondering where this would fall.

Funny story. Have an XR 600 Honda that is set up for the ice. Had a carb problem (stupid rich) and put street tires on it to work it out at home. Was cold blooded and wouldn't start with the kick so we bumped it off when we wanted to try something. It would chug a couple of times before it fired normally so I just kinda expected that as normal. Made a big change lean on the main jet and went to try her out. A buddy is on the bike and I get her rolling pretty good, he drops the clutch, the bike fires first hit and it's GONE. Have you ever tried to push something that's not there anymore?
I try not to bump stuff off anymore unless I have to now.

take some pics of your frame, we will be able to tell you which bike you have.

If there are wiring issues your are very well better off trying to resolve before starting the bike. You can get a battery for it at harbor freight.

If you are up for it, a check on the cylinder head, piston, rings and valves is never a bad thing.

If you want that ice racer to fire up always,,,get rid of the fuel your using,,,rejet the carb and run that badboy on propylene glycol....

I bet it didnt feel good when the pressure exerted met nothing but air...you probably fumbled forwards quite a bit with arms flailing wildly....LOL
Any particular spot on the frame that is more telling than others? Steering head, rear shock mount??? I have a pic of the instrument cluster. Is that telling?

Any idea of the battery # at HF? Yea know, those LIon batteries are getting cheap and the dragbike guys are using drill motor batteries to run the bikes now. Not sure what they want on the charge side but might be something to look into
Cam, I was changing it to a flat slide and didn't have any idea where it was at or what it wanted. Had to wait for the buddy as he had the leaner jets. I was running down the road trying to get my head up but to no avail. Finally decided to do a shoulder roll and get it over with. Didn't rotate enough on the way down and ended up doing a slide. My buddy is running up and down the street, happy as a lark, comes back and sees me standing in the driveway bleeding. "What the h**l happen to you", he says
A pic of the whole frame from the side with the plastics off. there are quite a few different frame designs in X bikes.

You have an X8 4 stroker,,,,,,,,Look on the head for CM3 #...If it says 49cm3 its most likely a 70cc...the chinese used miscasted cylinders to get them through customs faster as lower cc model bikes

That battery should be a 12v 6amp...for that bike a 12v 12 amp will work better but that means a relocated and bigger battery mount.......GSXR's and Hyabusas have the smallest batteries with max amps.......Li-ion batteries will work but cant be recharged very well through the rectifier

Good luck with it......Lots of good rides on it......

Figuring out if the jetting in a new carb will work...math usually helps out in that situation to get you near the ballpark........so far my math has let me down once in many-many years....

I modified an old 84RM125..I added a 36mm flatslide carb....Installed jets 12% larger than the old carb and it only needed a mainjet 1 size larger...Took me about maybe an hour tops to get it dialed-in and tuned for craziness.....

Propelene glycol is a racing fuel thats resistant to low temps and delivers maximum power...The snowmobile racers use that stuff religiously...
