Nice quad. I've been working on one similar to that for the past few weeks. That pumper carb work good with it? I'm still using the stock floater, but it runs really good with this engine. Have a Del'Orto rep I could use but not going to unless I get some leaks or something.

Stick some CF reeds in there, gives a noticeable increase in power, and a smoother burn.
He's got the stock floater carb too MQ.............Depending on where you bought from in the past,,,there were pocket dirtbikes and pocket quads that were built stock with pumper carbs already and let me tell you they are the best models to get..................Good Luck
tested quad this morning it has carbon reed fitted.it started on the third pull,low-mid revs seem fine pulling away nicely but at max throttle it lost power & cut out do ineed to lean/rich position on c-clip?i'm on position 2 lean setting
Too rich imo, mine does that too when I set the Idle a little too fast. now I have to deal with my chain, it pops off when I put the quad sideways on a patch of dirt, so I'm waiting on a new chain with master link and also fabricated a couple rollers to try and stiffen it up. I just picked up a pro max twin piston mechanical brake Caliper, deffinately an upgrade worth looking into if you like doing skids and drifts.

Pull the sparkplug out to read the insulator color/burn>>this will indicate which way youll need to adjust the engine tune......

Tin reeds restrict the air/fuel mix a tad in stock engines...When you add lighter more flexible reeds you increase the engines revs,,,The increased revs will need more fuel to get the engine to run like it should at WOT...

Try the c-clip on the 4th notch...........If the symptoms improve you may need a tad bit more jetting by upping the mainjet 1 size......

Id start by doing the petcock mod and upgrading the fuellines/fuelfilter to 1/4" and drilling the fueltank output larger aswell to increase fuel delivery flow........

Then Id regap the pickup coil to flywheel magnets to .020"

After that Id change the cheesy torch plug for a NGK BM6A gapped to .030"

Mod the stock airbox for more airflow...

Do the hp plugwire upgrade with an automotive type high voltage suppression wire

Start it up and give it a shakedown ride after all the changes to see how it performs and see what it takes to conform and perform....Just dont expect too much from the stock carb as far as making the engine run cherry day to day....Youll find that if its running killer now it may not 4 hours from now if the temps or barometric pressure changes
significantly.............Thats why I like pumper carbs.......Its less likely to burn up an engine and it tunes in minutes with no jetting changes or bowl removals,,,,Good Luck

Welcome aboard, listen to Cam2 and that thing will Fly.
had another run on quad today took it my friends house today,& run it up & down his rear garden, grass and decking with ramp.tried to start it,and it didn't want to have any of it. left it for 5 minutes, started first time(never starts on cue)but persistence pays off.got it warmed up, still problems with cut-out at higher throttle,on advise from buddy put more full in tank & it made difference but still had probs at high revs . clutch needs adjustment as it stuggled to pull away,or maybe could be gearing 6/54 maybe bigger pinion & larger sprocket would help.so going to do pet **** mod with fuel line &inline shut off.ordered all parts including a new float for carb as perished.1 question my c-clip setting is position 2 which is 4 notches away from needle end.and have max jet fitted to carbi will try end notch furthest from needle end later to see if that makes a difference, the other settings while i'm waiting for parts to be delivered.i'll also do porting on carb to improve flow.thanks again for advice from you all

Indeed you do.....Your running dangerously lean,,,doublecheck for airleaks...if the carb/intake gaskets arent brand new ;-replace them to totally eliminate that as a possible problem.........If ya got a plastic intake it may have a hairline crack in it........

running way lean. turn your idle screw two quarter turns, run it for 5 minutes, with a fresh plug if you have it. and yeah check for air leaks at the intake manifold... cracks sometimes can be fixed with some epoxy, but I would recommend you get an aluminum intake from Tsun... they are in the Zocchi Parts section, great quality, just a rip off on shipping.
On these cag engines, if you even change the exhaust, you need to re-jet bigger and you can drop the clip on the carb needle to make it richer at idle if needed also.
