I just acquired two used bikes, honda minimoto, 150W, 18V. There were dusty but in good shape. I cleaned them and bought two new batteries from a company. I charged them through the night and neither motorcycle comes to life whatsoever. Any suggestions for how to troubleshoot the electronics on these? I've got a multimeter. Also, what does the red vs. green light mean on the chargers?

They seem pretty simple. I don't know if there is a master reset I need to do.
1. All wires are connected
2. Charger is not connected to the plug on the fake gasonline tank
3. Ignition key went in and turned
4. No power/life/noise coming from the motor when the throttle is engaged

thank you soooo much for any ideas.

Check the Fuse in the upper triple clamp.................If fuse is good ;-jump the motor direct from the battery and if motor comes to life you have a bad speed controller or module........Also take a digital multimetermeter to make sure the batterys have enough charge each;-a brand new battery doesnt always qualify as a good one especially after shipping

The redlight means its charging ,........Green means ready to ride.Peace

  1. fuse good
  2. batteries good with multimeter test
  3. electric motor DOES come to life when I jump the battery directly to the electrical motor
Therefore, the controller for each bike must be bad. How do controllers go bad?!? They are steady state and seem solidly built...

has all the parts for this bike. But all the parts for this bike are
also comparable to the razor 200 pocketbike.
search the sit for honda minimoto!
I have 1 of these bikes and modified it to a 350 watt 24 volt motor.
3 12 volt 10 amp batteries and a 24 volt controller.
bike goes 27 mph on a slight downslope. lots of fun for the kids.
also changed the belt drive to chain #25

I feel like an idiot because I'm almost there, but they still won't start....

To date, I've replaced the batteries, controllers and ignition switch assembly. On one of them I also replaced the throttle assembly.

The problem is that when I put the key in the ignition, turn the key on and give it throttle, there is NO response from either motorcycle. To troubleshoot the issue, I was able to directly connect the battery to the blue/black leads to the electrical motor and it worked!! This tells me the fuse, motor, battery and drive train works. The problem is somewhere from the ignition-throttle-controller area.

I've contacted MonsterScooter.com to assist as well, but any ideas or detailed knowledge of how to work through testing this with a multi-meter would be helpful.

Ok!
the minimoto has a key lock that has to be connected to your key.
The lable on the controller wires is usually labeled "Lock".
If this wire is not connected to
existing switch, then your bike WILL NOT FUNCTION!
You can easily disable or bypass
this connection by " Connecting the positive and negitive to each other". Just temp. connect a paper clip or wire inside the plastic connection in the shape of a U so that the black and red or whatever the colors are to disable this "safety feature".
Hope this helps.

Hi. I'm having the exact same problem. Motor works with direct power from battery and NOT when use the throttle. can you explain what this key lock that has to be connected to key? Is this any different that putting the key in the key cylinder and switch it on? I've done that and it gets the voltage when on and cuts off when Off position. if you can take a picture to show what needs to be done would help. Thanks.

Can some one take a pic of this or even provide a schematic diagram of what is being descrived here.

As far as I can tell all harnesses are connected and the battery that I have is only a 12V but I'm just using that to see if I atleast get some power to the motor before I go investing in parts for this.

So far no juice but I do have a connector that later on in this thread is described as a yellow and white that doesn't go anywhere. When I get home I'll take a pic and post what I'm tallking about.

Cheers,

White and yellow wires from black box to two wires coming from ignition

Here's my diagram I made, I think mine is wired wrong but it came like this so I'm just double checking. Off my ignition switch comes the two orange wires one goes to the white fused wire on the controller. Apparently the other one is supposed to go to the controller's yellow wire on the same plug but mine goes to a separate plug that connects to another orange wire up to the charging port?

Also I have to order an ignition switch I know it's 2 wire 2 key but is it 2 position or 3?

Hi guys I am wonderong if someone can help me. I bought a minimoto 18v poketbike it says DucatiAustin on the front. It looks like the Honda bike. It seemed to be working but the ignition key was bypassed and the throttle was sticky. I checked the wiring and some had hacked it up. The ignition has been removed i traced it to a red and black wire connected. Then I checked the throttle it was wired in to two orange wires. So I ordered a throttle online. I went to wire it in but it has three wires a red, black, white.

After looking at the wiring closer I think that who ever rewired the bike before wired the throttle to the ignition ( two orange wires. The other loose wires were the red, black, green wires. The red and black wires were connected together before. So I figured these wires were the throttle wires since the connector they are connected to also has a black and yellow wires that go to the break.

So I ordered a throttle and a two wire ignition online. I went to wire it in but it has three wires a red, black, white. I believe the red - power gpes to red on the bike. Black - ground to black on vike and white -sense to green on bike but nothing happens.I do get motor moving when i remove the throttle and touch the red and black wires on the harness and it spins the tire.

What am I doing wrong. I have attached pics.

This is the igniton. Works great.

its all about the AMPS you guys the more amps you can pull from the speed controller the faster you will go .

stock is about 8 amps thats about what your moms vacuum cleaner pulls from the wall = LAME but hay you know people are putting there kids on these things.

just because you add a 20 amp ESC (electronic speed control ) wont mean the motor will draw more power the winding's can only pull 8.5 or so amps so your wasting your time just upgrading the ESC

amps x volts = watts

adding more volts makes the amps go down so your only overcoming the internal resistance of the ESC when you over volt the system and wasting more power in heat.

https://www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/Watt_to_Amp_Calculator.html

here is the way you make go fast juice on electric stuff

https://www.ebay.com/itm/48V-1000W-...235069&hash=item46624a2a69:g:G5oAAOSwc2FaI9DX

dont forget to change your gearing

congrats you just went from about 1hp stock to about 3hp :tango_face_devil: now it should keep up with a moded cag well untill it runs out of juce :tango_face_smile_bi you should be running off 4 to 8 24 volt lipo power tool battery's by this point anyway if your still running lead acid LOL throw that Sh1t in the trash if your a pro your running Max Amp RC battery's they are good for about a 200 amp pull the ESC will be smoked long before you can get to that point :tango_face_grin:
