How to keep choke from falling?

1082 Views 7 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ballstothewaldinger
So my x18's choke always falls down when I start it up, and I have to keep pulling it back up to keep it running. I was told that I should turn the choke 25 degrees. I tried that but the whole thing turns and still falls down. Suggestions?

It's spring loaded, there is suppose to be a knob near the speedo and a cable you pull up and twist to keep the choke open. Better to find a $25 22mm lever choke carb.
I am going to get a 22mm mikuni, would that solve it?
Yes but you will need to reach into the front fairing to use it altho I have never used by choke yet oh wait this winter I did when it was 8 deg outside and I forgot I left the gas in it so I started it to run it out lol
Why can't I keep the old choke hooked up to the new carb?
because it's a lever choke you van look around and find a Mikuni on a snowmobile from the factory and use one of those choke cable setups tho but I've been fine with mine even when I had to use it
Why can't I keep the old choke hooked up to the new carb?
You can if the carb choke lever allows it....My X15 with 25mm carb from an ATC 185 didnt have too many problems...I removed the choke bracket from the 19 and added it to the 25mm with little technical difficulty plus even added a pusher spring to get it to nreturn instantly and it worked flawlessly...

Oh BTW...A quarter turn of the knob is 90 degrees............TC
