Indoor cart tracks and track surfaces

Hey folks,

Noob here so be gentle. I live in Sturgis, SD and have been bitten by the PB bug. I don't even have my bike yet. (bought it two days ago and am impatiently waiting!)

Karting around here is mainly limited to the "playland" park stuff for tourists. There's two tracks in Rapid City. One is indoor.

My question specifically is the track surface. It's slick finished concrete. Like what you'd expect to see in a warehouse or store like Wal Mart.

With the hard compound tires on the karts it was "ok". Meaning it had some grip, but when the tires let go it was rather abrupt/sudden. It was difficult to get a feel for where the "limit" was. It doesn't take a genius to see how this could be really bad when cranked over on 2 wheels.

Has anyone raced a PB on a surface like this? How do actual race compound tires perform? I'm working hard at generating some interest up in this region because we have soooo many sport bike guys here. (but no big tracks for 500 miles) I want to approach the owner of the indoor track and see if he'd allow us to run there.

Help/experience appreciated.

I raced my Elite at this place called Kart-O-Mania. It was an Indoor track with polished concrete floor. with the harder chinese tires you can expect some random loss of grip, especially when you toe into the apex, the rear wheel can catch a spot that is a little more slick, and you will find yourself on your ***. You need some PMT 41 racing slicks or some Sava racing slicks.

Personally, I prefer this type of surface, my Elite 13 WRS was best on those types of conditions, as it was a very nimble and fast accelerating bike. On asphalt, all the GRCs and other longer framed bikes got the better of me.

the PMT and sava tires are quite pricey though.

GL!

Cool, try purchasing one and let us know how the runaround goes in getting a tracking number or a refund. If they are in stock you should have a tracking number within 2 business days max.

Would love to send them business if they do have them.
