Has anyone had any luck with a sealer for these plastic gas tanks? I did a quick sample on a hidden spot with Dexon Plastic Welder but dont think it sticking to it and kida scared to try the spot with the hole incase gas eats the stuff..

Does anyone know of a product that will work? Its the plastic that is on the MTA7 gastank.. Pretty sure they are all made of the same stuff!? And the hole is in one of the petcocks screw holes.. :( Maybe 2 more o rings around the screws?

Hah, guess I'll try that first....

The tanks are Polypro, I use to weld that and Pvc way back, I still have my plastic welder, had to fix my A2 tank right after I got it, had a real thin spot at the seam in front, and it was hitting the front tank mount. Not sure what tank you have.
Cam2 uses Permatex Plastic Weld on his tanks, think there is 2 tubes you mix together, he even cut a piece out of one tank an welded another section or something in.

Yeah I use the Permatex and military grade stuff too.....

To repair the tank preperation is key........If you rough-up the tank and rough-up the crack really good the permatex is acid based and the methyl acrylic acid actually bites into the tank.....

I had to relocate the filler neck on this X18 fueltank to work with the x1 tankcover on my X181 naked streetfighter bike..I cut the rectangular shape out with a razor knife so I didnt lose any plastic ...The repair is virtually invisible...

THANKS!! I scuffed it up good then put JB weld plastic weld Stick in the holes with a few clippings of Zip tie so the screws would grab better then screwed it in.. I then Plastic welded around the whole Petcock that I scuffed also.. It was the Devcon plastic weld but think its similar.. lol If not I'll go find the Permatex one and try again! Love that Gas tank Mod! I would have never guessed that would have worked.. Scuff Scuff and more scuff!

Thanks again!

VERY nice bike CAM2! would the permanex work on mini quad A4/S4 gas tank? Broken nipple. What kind of permanex did you use on your tank? Would that also work on the plastic molding on a quad?

Anthony
Thanks......If prepped right it will fix the broken nipple but I would drill the tank and add a brass barb then use sealer......It will also work on broken moulding.I used Permatex 5 min Plastic Welder Epoxy......

My gas tank used to leak like crazy. Rust-oleum makes a product called "leak seal"...it's rubber in an aresol can.. Works fantastic! Fills 1" holes and gas doesn't eat it away.. It's $15 per can.. But it's worth it.
