Sooooo, I traded my friend the X1 I had for his Lucky 7. He bought it a while back and the flywheel broke recently after.. We hadn’t really seen it run yet but it started and wanted to run away a few times. Sounded Strong… It just wouldn’t Idle and the crappy flywheel broke before the carb could be adjusted.. It has some really nice parts on it.. It’s supposedly 47cc with a PSWS racing cylinder and head big bore kit 50cc?!, Jet Pro Exhaust, Walbro WYK carb, Sava Tires, PBU rear swing arm adjuster and shimano Levers..

Picked up a used malfunctioning pull start and flywheel from some dude in Conoga Park for 20 bucks.. I fixed them up, slapped them on and it sounds great.. Super strong! I haven’t been able to jump on it for a ride yet but I’ll get in a test ride tomorrow.. Pics coming soon! I need a new camera but can’t stop buying pocket bikes… ;)

Poll on how long it takes me to burn it up?? ;)

1 day... 1 ride really... Haha the new to me flywheel flew apart.. Not sure really what happened.. It could have been too loose (doubt it) my cra.ppy woodruff key was ripped up and 3 teeth are missing, there is a hairline crack in the middle back.. It ripped up my new to me pull start also.. The little bugger was hauling when it happened but still didn’t get to see the full potential of the Not so Lucky 7... :(

Nice trade, does it have the alum plates that move rear arms back? So, it's a seperate head & cylinder?? Sava tires sound nice there not cheap. The flywheel problem sounds strange. Might be moving around on the taper. Better look at the crank close too. See if you can move the crank shaft end up and down on the main bearing. If they are bad the flywheel can hit the coil and it could come lose. I have had flywheels do that more than once. Them 2 flywheel are probably not good anymore. When I put mine on, make sure you are not pushing the key on the crankshaft back, I put a socket on the center of the wheel and wack it good a couple of times to set it on the taper, then tighten it very tight.

Ya I'm convinced the flywheel was flawed with a crooked hole and I didnt get it on tight.. I will be getting a new one.. lol

I will try your method of getting it on tight.. I'll use my impact driver next time also.. I left it a friends house..

Here are some pics.. The PBU Swing arm adjuster is kinda nice.. ;)

Nice Ride, someone has put some money into it. That head kit, is nice, never seen one like that and it has nice pegs, and a hp clutch housing and Jet Pro style exhaust and looks like a Walbro carb too.
I tried to order then alum extenders for my L7 at PBU and they don't make them anymore, tried to order an X18 hp chock and they don't have them anymore, just my luck, lol.
I ordered a 10.5" racing shock for the rear of the ATV, and a $30, 6" Mtn bike shock and will put my X18 1,500 lb spring on it. Have a blue finned CDI and an orange hp coil on the way. The 25mm carb I put on works real good.

Ya. lol allot more than that thing was worth.. My friend saw all those parts and rushed to snatch it up.. He has another X1 he’s been working on for a bit and wanted my frame so it worked out for me.. I dig it! It will be running again soon.. The Parts you ordered From PBU? Ya they seem to be a little inconsistent.. ;)

PBU stuff is top rate, made in house in California on a computer milling machine out of Billet 6061 T6 aircraft alum. I have 2 of there Lucky 7, Cag Torker billet alum finned exhaust manifolds, $28 each, worth every penny, they go from rectangle at the head port to round at the pipe for 3/4" ID pipe. Works with the $39 PBParts spring held chrome under exhaust. Have a PBU 28 tooth billet rear gear on my X18.

I would love to get my hands on one of those to reverse engineer and make a copy. I could generate it on the Solid Edge program using a Romer 6-axis probing arm, and reprogram it into CAD format with some light mods to make one in the CNC block cutter.

I've gone tru 3 pull starts and 2 flywheels now... Bah! Why do my pull starts keep unwinding after high RPMs on this Lucky 7? Is there something I'm missing? Too much torque with the super head?

I got one wound back up but scared to put it on again.. This thing is cursed!

lol

Ya the spring keeps unwinding.. I've tighted that center bolt really good the last 2 times and its super tight right now. Last time it was still so tight it stripped the screw after it unwound.. I have a allen bolt in it now. There were all in good shape before they blew apart..

Just wondering if somehow there is reverse windings or Pull start or maybe something special with the Lucky 7? Try again and cross my fingers.. lol

Thanks for passing my number along.. I did not hear from him yet. No worries, a little short till later in the month anyway..

Cheers!

Sounds like my X 18 the rear light stays on all the time. That is Strange, nothing touches the flywheel after the rope returns. Is the center bolt tight when you take it off? Is this a metal starter housing?

Yup, the bolt/screw has been tight everytime.. 1st time it happened to my friend when he owned it, whatever happened it tore up the flywheel.. The second time with new plastic pullstart and flywheel it poped at full speed and it shatered the flywheel again. Not sure if it was the flywheel or pull start but both were tore up.. This last time it was a new flywheel and fixed pullstart and it slipped again on the bench. I noticed before it came all the way out so no damage to the flywheel.. On the bench just reving it... The flywheel was saved..

Got it all back together but just browsing n asking.. Guess I need that metal one.. lol This thing is almost ready to fly...

Cheers

Lol wow that is weird, and I am stumped... I mean I've popped the spring and reloaded it atleast 100 times, and never has it popped out when the bike was at WOT, only when it was being pulled... then again, once the motor starts the cord gets sucked back into the starter, maybe thats the problem... flywheel spinning too fast for it's own good, LOL.

That engines needs a metal starter cover. Are there any marks on the flywheel where it has been rubbing the coil arms. I would take the end of your crank and see if it moves up and down. On my Blue Demon engine I blew the chain off the Lucky 7, and it came off the pinion and and blew the thrid bearing off and twisted the crank 1/4 " and ruined the right crank bearing, it was moving up and down .080", I had a big gap in the coil arms and it would still hit, I said holy cow.
Also the taper on the end of the crank could be out of round or... and the flywheel is coming loose, cause it can't get a Grip, lol. If it was me, I would look for a 10 or 12mm FC crank for $25, better than eating $25 flywheels every week, lol.
