My mate has passed his mini pull start quad to me.
I am working on it, but there is no wiring or battery with it.
The only wire I can see is coming from by the pull start, running alongside the spark plug cap.
Can anyone give me any indication what this is for and if the quad defiantly requires a battery please?

Also if anyone has a wiring diagram (if requires batter) would be a great help.

I am new to these types of bikes.

It is either a 47cc or 49cc reed port engine. 40mm or 44mm bores. The engine runs on its own, 15 years ago these engines were on backpack gas blowers. The coil is mounted over the flywheel magnets. The big wire goes to the spark plug, the little wire goes to the kill button on the handle bars or key switch etc. It shorts the coil to stop the engine. That's it.
Many ways to modify the engine and parts for more HP. $80 will get you a Winged Billet Head 15: 1 Kit, w/ clyd, head, piston full circle crankshaft, gaskets and everything you need. You can port the kit cyld even more, even with files and sandpaper & hand tools.
