Okay, total newbie on these. I purchased 3x complete pocket bikes and enough parts to makes a 4th.

I ended up with 5 spare cylinders/pistons, pull starts, carburetors, coils etc...etc. however no Reed valves.

Today I put together a motor out of parts from the spares box.

All the motors look similar, I would guess the parts are interchangeable.

Question:

what motors do I have? I need to order a reed valve and not sure of the model of motor to search under?

First engine is a Blata rep or C1 engine.
Second on is a self construction from China, there will fit some parts from BZM and Polini.

Search for 39cc C1 pocket bike reed V block, its V shaped with reeds on top and the bottom. Like Polini. You can get Carbon Fiber, fiberglass, and tin reeds too. I run a clone 19cc Dell PHBG piston carb on my 50cc C1, and clone Dell SHA 14mm carb on the 39cc air cooled bike. Both my BZM and Polini have real Dell 'Orto carbs.

Yes sir, that's the part, should show CF reeds somewhere on eBay there about $10 USD. Search again for CF reeds or fiberglass.

Do CF reeds make a big difference in these C1 replica motors?

I tried them in my cag 49cc motor and didn't gain anything, potential loss of power thb...so put the cheap metal ones back in.

Interested in feedback, as if they are better I'll buy some.

The problem of the Metal Reeds is that they are very thin and sometimes break, which usually leads to an engine failure.
Also, thicker fiberglass or carbon reed's are better for high rpm. But when you buy one than take the original Blata or Polini carbon plates for self cutting reed's.

You shouldn't forgot that the C1 engine start engaging the clutch where the most cage engines rpm is ending.

So are the engines on the Blata 2.5/2.6 also the Blata Quadard too..All made by Subaru Robin


Good to see ya back Kimjon and still having fun with the builds.....

Those lil engines quickly add up when buying parts for them....Anyone used to be able to get those Chinese watercooled knockoff engines complete for $166.00 until alot of the guys with the 8-10ft long model boats looking for more power bought them up and wiped them out...…

Best part about those Chinese knockoff bottomends is they meld pretty well with the Athena and Malossi 70cc headkits both aircooled aswell as watercooled……Theres others too....….

A low draw 12v hydraulic pump with a hydraulic motor would make a pretty crazy looking and unusual drift trike build aswell...…….

Im more partial to the fiberglass reeds for the knockoff engines when using zero% ethanol blended fuels...…I also buy either the fg or cf reeds in 10pcs each lots aswell….


The reason why the CF reeds dont work well in the tool based cag/brushcutter engines is because of the way theyre mounted and oriented on the crankcase bolted to the rear of the engine....

In those blata knockoff engines they have a different fuel delivery system up top near the transferports where the fuel flow from the reeds doesnt get directly impinged by the crankshaft and doesnt cause reedpetal float and powerloss plus theres 4 reedpetals in a "VEE" shaped reedblock instead of a flat reedplate with 2 reeds........

In most of my hp cag engine builds I used the tin reeds aswell as they gave the quickest reaction to controlling fuel delivery and maintainning case pressure.....I just had to change them every 25-30 hours of service and I also flipped them at half life.....

In my many engines and bikes I use all 3 type reeds, depends on the engine and what its used for. I also use Dupont Viton O rings in the heads, which I bought from Tsunamibike which is now gone. The China ones suck.

Awesome, thanks CAM2, Mrkitty and EPR. always keen to learn more about this stuff, and you guys are years ahead of the game.

Got this far today. 5hrs worth of time so far...

Included in that time I also machined the hubs and sprocket on the lathe to fit.
