Hey guys Im in the U.S. specifically in pennsylvania and I have no clue which or what kind of pocket bike I just bought!
Little bit about me I am very big into quads and dirt bikes and I love hill climbing with my buddies.
I also work on my own quads/dirt bikes and do full rebuilds at times so experience with a wrench and getting the hands dirty is nothing new.

So I took a gamble and bought this pocket bike for $15 off my neighbor. He said he had it running not to long ago but it has been probably a few months.
The thing looks like crap but what can I say for $15.
Here are some pics please help me identify what it is!
I will post what my plan to get it running for a little test run in a new post below.
Thanks!

Ok so this thing is a 2 stroke correct ?Like I believe so the next thing I was going to do (I took all the plastics off) is drain out the old gas (which is mixed) and put fresh in.
As you can see it does not have the battery and what he was doing was taking jumper cables and just hooking the clamps directly onto the postive/negative and then to a car.
So I just hooked the battery charger directly up to it and it turned it over really slow to slow that I know it wouldnt start it.

Yep it's a two stroke, with a walbro rep pumper carb... 32mm stroke by 40 or 44mm bore.. You should clean out the carb thoroughly and see about getting a battery at harbour freight. Jumping it with a car works but is not recommended.

Its a Cateye FS-509......It indeed does have a 49cc piston ported 2 stroke engine.....The carb is a copy of the WYK192 Walbro carbs..Top speed unmodded is around 26mph until modded

Thanks Mathieu I will be picking one of those up soon!
Cam2 just from reading some posts you seem to be quite the pocket bike master! Say for a budget of $75-100 what mph could I make thats just for the motor. Maybe another $75 for pipe air filter carb those things??
All I will be doing is riding down the road and messing around in parking lots but for a hillly road with steeper hills would i be able to pull them in stock form at 115 lbs?

asuming everything is in order with that motor, you can make that bike go 35 just by doing some simple DIY mods... Then aftermarket parts will give you an additional boost. Theres tons you can do with the right tools and know how, and then with about 100 bucks of parts, You can take it to the next level. The idea is to start by making the bike reliable and run well, then try milking as much as you can outta it.

All I know is with a dremel and a couple hours I can turn a 1.9-2.0hp 2 stroker into 4-5hp really quick......The cost of mods is only time......

Theres some things you can buy like rocket key,hp clutchspring and a fatty pipe for it...........My X1 is massively modded and it goes over 40mph....Just know going that fast requires a better handling suspension

Take a look at this thread for the basic ideas

I will be able to do all those basic things minus the boost bottle and I will be leaving the lights and electric starter on. I have a really good engine builder for my quad and dirt bike 2 stroke engines I will probably send him the top end and have him port it and see if he can cut the head for correct squish o ring gasket stuff like that. I still dont understand what a rocket key is though.

On most of my piston ported builds the squish comes up at around .024"-.028" without a basegasket already as it is.....Thats already a pretty tight squish in need of some pretty high octane fuel to control pre-detonation....A couple of my builds the piston actully hit the dome so I had to index the piston........

A rocket key advances the flywheel by 10 degrees to build power quicker...........These engines are designed for LAWN EQUIPMENT not motorbikes......Lawn equipment engines are built totally retarded to keep them running long time and efficiently with the least tuning /running headaches........

That one says forx1/x2 will that bolt up on my cateye ?
Also if $75-$100 is a nice amount to build a really nice motor Im starting to think i should buy a manual reed cage motor.. I've grown up riding manuals and riding an auto is not new either but a little boring IMO. BUT.. if we can make this happen so I can easily acheive 35 mph going up long steeper roads and spin the tires when I want I'll stick with the auto.

The fatty will have to be modded for the cateye...I know the only pipe dedicated for that model is the revpipe.........Ive been involved with so many threads lately with so many members its hard to take the time to remember whos got what and I apologize for jumping too quick...shiddd its hard trying to keep track of the 40-50 bikes I have.......LOL
