Hey all, just picked up an abused to heck x18, and thought i would join up.....if anyone has plastics for one for cheap i would possibly be interested.......LOL

How i got it:

Also, any cheap mods to make it go freakin fast? LOL it tops out around 45 right now close as i can tell.... The whole air box setup is gone, so theres no restrictor (unless theres one in the carb itself....)

lol welcome to you as well!!
oh, ordered a seat pan and gas tank fairing this evening...i think thats about all i am gonna run, and fab up a custom headlight setup.....
nice bike for 100 bucks if you ask me. GL with your overhaul!

Mathieu
Thanks! The frame is solid, as is the motor.....LOL the back tire is showing its cords, front tire isnt quite round.....but it does run good so i am happg

I use the Sava tires, they wear down less than the PMTs and still provide more than adequate grip, and if you ask me the toe in is better. Then again you can probably get 3 sets of chinese brand tires for the price of one set of Savas.
LOL i am ok with the front tire for now, but i already have a tire for the rear on its way...LOL should be here tomorrow.
As a side note, is that mopar in your avatar yours? Very nice! I am a dodge guy myself!
Indeed, with a 440 4 barrel I pulled out of an old dodge crestwood.
VERY NICE!!!!!!! I am currently building a fully forged 318 for my lil dakota, gonna run a standalone computer and run a turbo at around 10-12#, and a 220/230 .507 lift 114lsa cam to go along with the M1 performance intake.... The guy i got most of the stuff from for the topend had it in a dakota as well, and ran a 12.7 1/4 with a procharger at 8-10#... My truck weighs about 6-700 # less since its the old square body.....LOL
Get a 4.7 Liter, 287 cu. in., Dodge Magnum V-8, over head cams, roller rockers, throttle body injections, each spark plug has its own coil, has locking torque converter and the computer watches the crank and cams to keep everything timed right. All from the factory. You can get a speed chip also online. Have one in my Dodge Durango all wheel drive SUV, 4 wheel drifting in the rain, lol.

Sorry, but the 4.7 has issues overheating, and a speed chip isnt going to cut it with me....

My goal is about 550hp at the wheels with the engine i am building, and i am running the standalone computer becasue one thing dodge simply cannot get right is tuning, thier pcms are garbage... Lowest resolution pcms on the market... Add boost to the equation and it cuts the tables in half because you need to add the boost side, but the pcm only has enough room for so many tables....

Oh and i have first hand experience in that overheating dept with the 4.7... Parents durango is currently getting new headgaskets and possibly heads....at 120k miles... That just should not happen....

As for the other "perks" you mentioned.....my truck has a lock up TC, OHC is actually worse for power...spinning 2 cams instead of one leaches power off the crank, coil on plug has no significant increase....other than cost to replace... A properly maintained distributor will power a 1500+hp beast just fine.... And the crank and cam sensors sole function is for he fuel injection, to time the injector pulses.....

When you study up on completely rewiring your engine bay to run an aftermarket computer, you learn whats beneficial or not....

Oh yeah....one more thing... Its waaaaaaaayyyyy easier to get performance parts for a 318 since its been around since 1967.... There are no forged pistons, rods, or crankshafts (to my knowledge) readily availible for a 4.7, and those are a MUSt for the biost/power levels i am gonna be running....

Oh yeah, why wait for the rain to drift? LOL more fun on dry pavement....LOL
Welcome Guys... So the Rat runs pretty good then huh? I believe I read those have governors in the carb and the throttle housing!? It might go faster if you can find them..

440 in a winne, now I have seen it all! my buddy has a porsche flat 6 in his westfalia, haha.
Lets see.... Todays shipment was great....LOL my clutch, brakes and rear tire came in.... Clutch is meh.... Seems like it wants to stick...LOL probably gonna get a hydro clutch for it.... Also noticed that part of the engine housing is cracked, where the top bolt mounts thru the engine....this thing has been BEAT....lol probably need a new right side engine case, and weld up a few cracks on the lower mount.... No biggie there.... Gotta fix the top half first though...that way i can get it straight before welding....also realized that i forgot to order the rear brake lever assy (the mandrel to actuate the mastercylinder) so i ordered that today as well....LOL
I had a 318 in my 1964 Plymouth Fury fast back, racing cam, three 2 barrel carbs w/ progressive linkage, 4 to 1 headers and Cherry Bomb glass packs. It was a great street car.
If I was going for the horsepower I would just buy a $6,000 to $8,000 engine ready to roll, your going to spend that much anyway.

Actually, i will be spending around 25-3000 on the whole build.. LOL i got some crazy deals on the parts so far..... I have over half the components for the engine and am only into it for 1100.... All i need is the crank, pistons and gaskets.... I have everything else already...LOL
