New guy with two Cagllari's

I bought one Cag from a friend and it is the first Cag I seen. It has the spark plug coming out at an angle coming from the top of the head. It also has slotted front disks.

I bought another one tonight and it has the spark plug coming strait out of the top of the head with the exhaust coming out to the left around the plug. And the front disk is drilled.

The frame work between the two is completely different, well nearly everything is. Anyone know what two different Cags I bought?

top one looks like this...

Bottom one looks like this...

Which one is the better one? I have a big bore kit on the way, and I want to put it on the better one. Thank you for your help

There both MTA1 Cags, there are alot of different frames and makers but the engines are the same. Unless one is a 47cc and one is 49cc, can't tell from the photos. My avatar bike started with 47cc but I put a racing crank modded a bunch of stuff and put billet 5 port head and cyld.
well the top one the fins are connected on the bottom, and the bottom cag the 4 fins are seperated.

couple more differences is the top one..
Rear brake cable runs to the outside of the frame
one screw on both sides holding on the front fender
square pieces on the bottom of the forks for the wheel and brakes

Bottom cag...
Rear brake cable runs to the inside of the frame
4 screws for the fender
just tubes with tubes to put the axle through the fork tubes

I am just trying to figure out which one is newer and probably modify. To me it seems like the bottom one is better built. But the top one seems to be the newest model according to the buying sites.

Take actual pictures of your bike and post it and we will be able to assist you better. Both bikes you posted are the exact same.

Theyre MT-A1 cags,,,,No matter the frame style theyre Cags unless called the Blade or raptor which you do not have......They come half fairing and full fairing.....I have 6 of them,,,all 6 have different style frames.....

I have that same style frame cag and was pretty popular in 2006...Your bike appears to be a 2010/11 by the rear chainguard....I remodeled and modded mine a lil bit.....

If the fins are all the way down to the base its a 48.7cc and the other might be a 43cc known as 47cc. The 49cc have a 12mm pin bearing the 47cc has 10mm bearing. The newer Cags also have T8F 8mm chain instead of #25
As long as the bottom ends are the same, I wanna put the big bore kit on the better frame and swap out the 49cc and put it on the other bottom end. The reasoning cause one bike has a for bolt pattern on the base and the other a 3

Yeah the angle cut 3 bolt pattern engine plate needs a stiffer upper engine mount fabbed for both sides of the engine.....

On the four bolt plate id drill-in the 5th hole and use all 5 holes....These engines vibrate mega and that torsional vibrations does a number on mounting screws....the stiffer the better..........

If you have the angled plate you most likely have this style frame.......

If you do have tis style of frame....That frame is considered a deathtrap frame anyway...Theres way too much neck and not enough main rail top tube.....I remodeled mine a lil bit to make it way safer and even added a larger/stronger engine plate...........In fact Ive remodeled 5 of my 6 cag frames...3 have stretched rear swingarms and strengthening tubes...

heres another stretched and restrengthened frame I built....

do you have a link or a picture of what you got?
When I get home I'll get some pics
Well I put a big bore kit on one, I redo the exhaust cause it won't fit around the head, I did find out the other one I bought is the 49cc cause the piston was as big as the big bore kit

Wheres the pics.......?
Its the big bore 7 off of eBay. I got the stock 49cc running last night, it seems extremely sluggish. I thought these things ran 32mph, I thing mine ran maybe 15. And sry bout the pics I'll post the up for sure tonight, we were anxious to get one running

Oh and I think I figured out why it was slow. We used the original Carb with the smaller jets.

I have that same headkit......Thats a 5 port cylinder...5 port cylinders dont last very long as the ring splitsin the piston ride inside the two outter ports and all the sharp edges gouges up the piston...........Fitting an all aluminum pullstarter is gonna be fun aswell...The housings gonna have to be trimmed before it can fit..............

Your exhaust pipe is mostly choking back the situation...If you look inside youll find a honeycomb like a catalystic converter and then after being removed by cutting the expansion chamber in half it must be lengthened 4-6" to flow properly....

the top pipe is the modded cag pipe...

Unless your superflyweight you wont get 30 out of a bone stock cag,,,There are certain exceptions though because I bought a 43cc cag that could pull 7/55 gearing and was pretty powerful.Theres like 5-6 different cylinders they use and all arent identical in power output....,the stock speeds range between 22 and 27mph depending whether its a 49 or 43cc engine......dont go by the seller. They cant tell what the chinese slap on there....Take a left sideshot of the stock head...well be able to tell by the fins whether or not its 49cc......
Lol, well found out why every one gets aluminum pull starters, I just snapped mine
Lol, well found out why every one gets aluminum pull starters, I just snapped mine
Thats one reason..the other is the aluminum pullstarter becomes a heatsink and helps cool the engine a lil more.............

On my 220psi compression engine I still managed to snap an all aluminum one...............LOL

You can get a new one for $20 bux free shipping.......
